because lying happens *cringes* i didn't vote... i need at least a third option to choose from.... good people and bad people both lie, but in all reality there are no good or bad people... just.... people, souls. can a person ever say that they have truthfully never lied?
i want to choose both.. and even more.. cuz some people are just.... retarded.. and "E"-thugs~ eheh
they just want to sound or seem cool! and so instead of helping them with some nice critique, they just say.. "you suck" straight out.. i dont like that!!! their are people who tell white lies, and people that are just straight up nice and/or mean...
All depends on the situation my friend...most often (in my experience) people tell "white lies" because the person in which they are lying to cant handle the truth...Now people tell more serious lies because they are afraid of the consequences that will come if they tell the truth. Its funny tho how the people who do that often get into more trouble then they would have if they told the truth....
that's a hard thing. I really can't tell which one to pick up, and I just tell you what happened to me sometimes.
1 - cheated on my gf, realized that i didnt love her anymore and left her. she asked me for the reasons and as obvious I lied... you think it was good to tell her the truth?
2 - usually I tell the truth. I'm always true although even a simple and little harmless lie could avoid some pain. Now, am I a bad person because I make some people suffer, or I'm a good person because I tell the truth?
3 - this is not my case, but yet an example: somebody makes something kind of bad, takes remedy and avoids telling to another person what happened, although that person is supposed to know. now... that's a good person cause he took remedy without giving pain to the other one, or just a bad person cause he was afraid of the consequences and therefore lied?
Wise man once said that truth is relative. If you lie and act, think and make yourself believe that it is the truth, there's no lie left, only the truth everybody can see.... and trust this words, I experimented it.
Cant choose. Reasons are kind of obvious. Everything is relative. There are good people who lie because they don't want to hurt you, aswell as bad people who lie just because of the consequences the truth can have on them.
About the first case: most of the times you discover the truth by yourself and that hurts even more, because of pain of the fact, plus the pain caused by the person who lied to you, making you lose trust in them, although maybe they really did not to harm you. That is basically Why I simply decided to be true and as rude as jude.
Whatever you do, don't call one of those radio talk show psyciatrists. Big mistake... public humiliation... Just move on with your life. It's the only way.
Some people lie because for them it's the natural thing to do. That's what they expect will happen to them so that's what they do to others. It's part of a world view.
The two options you gave make the reasons for lying seem too 'black and white'. There are/can be many reasons. Now, it's within those countless reasons that you will find the reasons given in your poll.
The question is why do we need to cover things up.
I try to be low on the lying. I hate being lied against, I just want honesty.
But alot of people prefer a bliss of lies, to keep someone's appearance up.
But I always say that the truth will find you in the end =]
it just depends, because if u lie, the truth will catch up wit you oneday
(atm - ive jsut found out abt one of ma ex-gf's lies - i thought it was true at the time, but i still had some doubt- it turns out she WAS liein)
