If it was small then I would just leave it. But if it was like, the wrong main body colour by a long way or something than I would give them like.... sooooooooo many thank you messages, and then point it out politely

Its a gift, the person wants to show you that they care ect, so why not point out a mistake? Its your character still, and if they are gifting you Im sure they would be more than happy to make sure they got the gift they are giving you right. For the life of me I cannot figure out why 65% of people wouldnt mention it... its not like the person should take personal offense? :) just my thoughts

{I don't know... I think it'd bother me a little (in a way, it'd bother me a lot because every time I see the image I'll probably identify and think of the mistake)... Like, it's flattering.. but at the same time, I don't think it's necessarily fair. I've had an experience like this where someone had gone out and bought me a "convenient" gift for my birthday (a valentines day gift when my birthday was at least two weeks before). On one hand it's nice because yes, there was "thought" put into it, but on the other hand, it shows that the person isn't paying attention to details that are important to me. It became a cheap and selfish act in which they could say "see? I got you something". With something like OC gift art, like a few other people said, it really all depends on how big the mistake is.

I'm not at the point where I'd be able to accept a gift that was done wrong, or only had halfheartedness put into it. If a gifter is drawing the character because they know it's important to the person they're drawing it for, unless it's a complete "surprise me" sort of OC, they should try to be as accurate as possible and look at as many references as they need in order to get it right; after all, an OC is a very special art piece for their creator. If you're going to put in the effort to draw something for someone, you may as well put the effort into doing it well, for the sake OF avoiding awkward situations where you force people to be comfortable with avoidable mistakes. Also, in the end, it will save the gifter the embarrassment or discomfort of having to realize a mistake and fix it. The bigger the unwanted mistake, the more the gifter shows they don't care.}

Thank them, of course!  They put a lot of time and effort into the gift (most likely), so give them the thanks they deserve.

Ya know what? They put effort into the gift just making it. I would forgive and forget ^^ Honestly I'd just be happy that somebody made a gift for me. I wouldn't care. Now if it was a commish, then yeah I would ask to have it fixed

Tell them but thank them a million times but also tell them. But that's only because I tend to be a blunt jerk sometimes~
But then I'll proceed to thank them a million times over.
while they fix it

It's a gift, so I'd usually ignore most issues with it, just as I would requests. Art trades are slightly different, but only when it's a commission is when I see most mistakes as a big deal.

After getting chewed out once for not "Appreciating someones efforts" and "Being elitist" when pointing out major error in the image, I kinda learned just to suck it up and smile :I

I'm fairly used to having a particular character of mine drawn wrong so many times. The fact im always honored and happy to have them drawn overcomes any error xD

Depends on how big of a difference it is. If it's something really small like the size of a marking something, I just don't say anything, but if it's something like a big marking left out completely, I say something like "waaagh thank you so much it's so awesome!! Oh- but s/he also has marking there~" and see if they fix or not.

I would be happy the way it is, though if it's something major they forget or did wrong, I'd point it out. ; w ;

Usually it's polite to just say thank you but i do point out things if it's a definite importance to the character's features so they can pay more attention to detail next time they try drawing someone's oc

Since it's a gift; you didn't pay for it, and they took their time to draw it for you, i wouldn't
usually point it out unless it was maybe a very important detail? QwQ) <33
