Recycled Bottle Cap Mosaic

81 different recycled bottle caps mod-podged against a 10"x10"inch edged-canvas.

Started the piece by painting (or perhaps more like scraping..) pigment upon the canvas in a pretty random fashion.  Used some various colors but mainly some natural browns/blacks/whites, and other tones just to add a sort of texture to the canvas so it wasn't simply white.  Afterwards I figured out how I wanted to lay out all the caps, and chose so in a sort of checkboard fade from different color sets and glosses.  Then once happy with the layout, I used mod podge and glued each piece to the canvas and let dry!  Simply piece but a lot of fun to make, and is a cool piece for the kitchen/drinking area.  ^_^

Had made this piece prior to the Super Mario Bottle Cap art, also for the sake of learning and practice before making the larger pixel art out of caps.  Definitely helped me to figure out how to work with the Mod Podge and caps and just how it was going to set, etc.  :)

enjoy!  and if you like, you can see the Mario Cap Mosaic below!

Nice! I've been collecting various metal caps for about 2 years now, and found about 137 different ones in total, and I love seeing some from various parts in the world too far for me to travel ... ( some of them are here bagelfishtrousers.deviantart.c… )

Thank you Bagelfish!  Great to read from you and your comment, I'd also been collecting for a few years as well gathered some from a few friends.  This piece was the first one I did in order to get a feel for working with the Mod Podge and them, for a later mosaic piece I had in mind.  Thank you for the link by the way to your work!  Good to see the other ones you have collected and there are many I've never seen before.  :)

Ah, sweet!  :w00t!:

I could totally see this hanging in someone's room, just across from their billiards table, on the wall beside their 50's dinner clock.  =P

Very nice!

Thanks!  I plan on making a few more bottle cap craft mosaics down the road, and may even attempt another one similar to this.  Perhaps with a nice aged wooden-frame, and maybe even more delicacy of beer selections!  ;)  Glad to see you enjoy this though, gives a little enthusiasm to work on the next one even sooner.  =P
