Hey, how is your summer going? I've been working. Mostly yelling at kids. You know, the usual.

I sold some stuff and instead of just buying more toys, I put the money towards getting some new equipment that'll help me out as an artist. My old Cintiq 12WX had served me well in its time, but I needed to move on to something better. A current model Cintiq was still out of reach, so instead, I did some digging and got a used 21UX at good price. It's not the latest and greatest but it's way better than what I was using before and it'll suit me just fine. Plus, I've got it mounted to an Ergotron arm that will help a lot in making sure I am more comfortable and healthy while drawing. Take a look!

Besides that, I've got also laptop. You can read more about my stuff on my weblog at SykoGrafix.com
Yeah, there are some new toys there too. See anything you like?

I often see people wondering about what tablet to get and how they can ever even afford one. You don't have to keep thinking that it's all unattainable. The answer is always to get the best that you can afford. Just keep your eyes open and you'll find a deal, and buying a used one on eBay is not the worst option as long as you do your research. Let me know if you have questions, because I have a fair bit of experience with this stuff and I can probably help.

Hi gang. Thank you so much for the fantastic birthday messages this month. I totally appreciate it.

I've been working Saturdays as an art teacher for kids again for the past few months. It has been ok, but it seems kids today are maybe harder to reach than they used to be. It is what it is, I guess. Anyway, it has ended for the year. I don't know if I'll start again in September, but I think that will be open to me.

This summer I'm back doing the same summer art camp job that I did last year. I'll be pretty busy with that, so I'm not sure how much actual good art I'll be doing in my off time, as I am likely to be exhausted from working with kids. But I do have exciting developments happening. I got some new equipment on the way that should make doing art easier and more pleasant overall.

But first things first, TFcon! I'll be there as usual! I'll be doing an exciting new panel presentation about a certain aspect of Transforners History again too. I'll probably talk more about that later.

Leave a comment and let me know what you're up to with art or with whatever other cool stuff is going on this summer!

I've been streaming on both Twitch and Picarto recently. So if you use either of those platforms, follow my channel and watch & chat with me while I draw and do stuff. And if you don't, well, you should! I would really love to see more of my following here on DA show up to watch my streams. I'd certainly be more open to doing more drawing this summer if I had an audience to keep me company.

10 years of Anime Justice!

Today, April 14th, 2018, marks the 10th anniversary of when I first uploaded my Justice League of Anime artwork. It really feels like that was a lifetime ago, but I still remember what it was like spending all that time thinking about it and working on it. This is certainly my most popular artwork with over 4000 +favs, and has got to be the most widely seen and discussed thing that I have ever made.

I just wanted to take a moment to thank everyone for their support ever since I first uploaded that artwork. It has been exciting to see people's enthusiasm for the work itself and for the concept of a team of classic anime characters coming together. I truly appreciate every +fav and every thoughtful comment, and I'm thankful to anyone who first saw that piece and decided to follow me from then on.

To commemorate the occasion, I wanted to look back at the past 10 years and see what new things have happened with each of the characters and write about it on my website blog. It turns out, there has been a lot! From brand new anime series to classic manga finally being made available in English, each of the 7 characters I chose for the Justice League has had many new developments. I still get occasional comments from people who don't get it and think that some of the characters are too obscure, but I would have to say that not only are they not obscure, they have only become even more popular in the 10 years since I drew them together. If that doesn't prove that I chose correctly, I don't know what does!

So check out the blog on my website to see more! I would love to read your feedback.

Will there be more Anime Justice League in the future? Will there be new members to the team? Maybe someday, but if it can reach 5000 +favs by the end of the year, I'll give some more thought to making new artwork based on the concept. Until then, please keep sharing and commenting on my artwork.

And one more thing: The Justice League TV series is still great. Funny how so often the cartoon is so much better than the movie, huh?

Hey everyone. Hope you are all doing well.

I am a featured artist on Artist Connect, a blog that showcases artists and links to resources and inspiration. They found me on my Instagram and asked me to answer some questions for an interview. It was fun to think about the answers and I actually had to put some serious thought into it.

You can read my feature right here!

I want to thank Artist Connect for getting in touch and giving me this unique opportunity.

I had not been working on much artwork this year because I needed new glasses and couldn't see very well. But I'm back at it now so look forward to some cool new stuff soon.

Also, keep an eye on my status notifications because I will be doing live art streaming more often. Please join my channel on Picarto and add it to your followers to be notified whenever the stream goes online.

Hey, it's been awhile. First, I should thank everyone for all the Birthday messages from back in June. I appreciated that. The day before my birthday I interviewed for a job, and I was given the job about an hour after the interview. So it was a busy but exciting time.

The job involved teaching art to kids, which is something I have a lot of experience in but had not done since moving away from Toronto. Overall it was a good experience that had me doing lots of new things and making a lot of silly drawings. I worked with some great people there too. Some of the kids were really interested in doing art, and that was fantastic. Of course, some kids were rotten and just wanted to run around like maniacs and not listen to anything, but that's just the way it goes. Young ones, please do not be like these rotten kids.

Anyway, the job was only for the summer so it came to an end when the school year began. At least I was able to go to TFcon (awesome) and buy a Nintendo Switch (also awesome).

I had not done a whole lot of finished drawings recently, but I tried my hand at Inktober this year, and managed to get all the way through without missing a day. I was really feeling like I was stuck in a rut, so I'm happy that I did it and that I got through the whole thing, even if some of them are pretty dumb. I posted all the drawings on Instagram, which I had just started using. I'll be posting more artwork, WiPs, pictures of toys and other photos from my collections, and whatever stuff that I think is cool, so check it out and follow my account if you want.

There have been a lot of messages and great comments here on DA that I still need to catch up on. Thanks for your support and patience. I've got tons of ideas for new drawings. It's just a matter of figuring out what to do next and the sitting down to get it done. I'll be sure to do some streaming when I can get to it, and it would be great to have an audience. So please keep keep watching!

These are not the only things I'm offering! Of course, I can do other kinds of illustrations in other sizes and styles as well, so if you have something specific in mind, send me the details and I'm sure we can work something out.

More than the money, I need to keep busy and make artwork, so by commissioning me you will be helping me out in more ways than just with cash. But, yeah, I need the cash too.

(X-Posted from SykoGrafix.com)
Hello and Happy New Year if you are into that sort of thing.

I think 2016 was a pretty good year for me as far as how much artwork I actually finished. Between all the fan art, commissions, Skeletober, reaching 100 entries in Ninjapocalypse, and miscellaneous sketches, I did a lot! I haven't counted and compared, but this is probably more artwork than I had done in the past few previous years. With that in mind, I thought I might put it all in one place to see what it looked like together. So, here's an image of almost my entire artistic output for the year, minus a few things that I did for other people and maybe a couple other things I could have forgotten about.

2016 by ninjatron

There are a few things that I haven't added to the gallery here on SykoGrafix.com yet, but I'll get to them soon.  It's all there on my  DeviantArt, Tumblr, and Twitter.

Even though this might seem like a lot, I'm certainly not satisfied. This is still not anywhere close to the amount of artwork I would like to be producing. While I would like to say that I'm going to try to do even more this year, I think that instead I'm going to spend my time going back to basics, try to improve my skills, and learn new stuff. That might equal less finished drawings like this but should hopefully put me in a better position for creating cool things in the future.

2016 was a bumpy ride for everyone but I certainly appreciate everyone who has taken their time to look at my artwork and gotten any kind of enjoyment out of it. I'll keep working hard to deliver more.

So, hey, which of these artworks do you like best?

Hello. I hope everyone who celebrates had an enjoyable Christmas. Mine just kinda came and went. It's ok. I'll buy my own presents.

I am still available for commissions, but I'm only keeping commissions open for a little while longer. So if you see this message, you can commission me for either a $25+ 8.5x11 Super Deformed character, a $10 Wildcard, or just about anything else. I might not be able to start right away, or get back to you immediately, but as long as you get in touch, I'll count it as being before the cut off, which will be whenever I post the next journal.

I've been seeing a lot of artists doing #inktober over the past few years, and this year has been bigger than ever. I thought about it, but I had something different in mind that I'd rather do instead.

Skeletober by ninjatron

I'm drawing Skeletor, everyone's favorite villain from Masters of the Universe, almost every day this month!
Follow along on my Twitter or Tumblr to see for yourself.

Skeletor is the perfect mix of scary and funny, and has become one of the Internet's most famous characters in recent years. He was even in a car commercial.

For the first few days I was keeping it fairly standard and using some traditional tools I haven't touched in a long time. But I'm looking forward to trying some new techniques and crazy styles. Now let's see how far I can push the character of Skeletor in the realm of illustration.
I'm not going to post the drawings here on DeviantArt everyday. I'll wait until the end and maybe to a compilation post or something.

Also this month, Ninjapocalypse is getting new updates. These may be the final characters. New posts every Thursday for the next few weeks. This project has meant a lot to me so I would appreciate some support.

I am still making myself available for commissions. Check out the details here:

Hey, thanks to everyone who supplied the birthday wishes. I got exactly what I wanted for my birthday: A nondescript, quiet day where nothing special happened at all.

This past year has slipped away in what seems like the blink of an eye. I don't know if I have much to show for it since my last birthday, but I'm still in the fight. It has been a struggle recently, but I am doing my best. Trying new things with my artwork and hoping to find new and better ways to express my creativity.

I'll be at TFcon, Canada's Fan Run Transformers convention in Mississauga, Ontario on July 15th-17. While I'm not planning to do anything art related there, something else is in the works to look forward to from me.

Be sure to check out my website SykoGrafix.com, my Tumblr, and my Twitter. Also, follow me on Picarto to check out when I do an art stream. It's way more fun, and easier to stay focused, when I know I have an audience, and it would be great to see some people from DeviantArt in the chat room.

I have not been nearly as productive with new art as I wanted to be, mainly due to getting sick multiple times in the past few months. Hopefully that's all behind me now. How's everybody else doing?

Well, to be honest, maybe I haven't done as much art because I've been playing Monster Hunter a lot. Any fellow hunters out there?

Hoping to get more done soon. I feel more motivated to keep going when I've got an audience, so check out my Picarto channel and subscribe there to find out when I do another art stream. You can follow me on Tumblr and Twitter as well.

Even though I haven't done a lot of art recently I still see plenty of support for my older pieces, and in some cases, really old prices! That's pretty cool! I appreciate all the +favs and would love to get more comments so I can get to know my audience more and see what you cool people like.

Hello everyone. I hope that you all had a good holiday and new year season. More importantly than all of that nonsense, I hope that you all enjoyed Star Wars: The Force Awakens. I know I did.

I wrote a bit about my favorite things of the year on my website. I invite you to check it out and let me know your thoughts on my picks and what things you liked the best that happened in 2015.

From now on, I will be using the Status Update feature on DeviantArt to announce when I will be doing a stream. I won't be posting journal anymore, because new Status Updates are now a part of notifications. So, if you would like to watch a stream, please keep your eye on that!

I feel that I am at a bit of a crossroads with my artwork and building an audience. Of course, I did not endeavor to become an artist to be popular, but it's become clear that I need to make changes in order to advance. I wanted to offer commissions, and I probably will eventually, but I think I will need to focus my energies on other things this year. So I'm not sure how many more fan art illustrations I'll be doing. I have lots of ideas and I am not giving up on anything, but I will need to be focusing on something more serious and stable in the art world. We'll see how it goes and I welcome and suggestions.

Until then, you can keep up with me on my website SykoGrafix.com, on my Twitter and on my Tumblr.

I've got some Transformers and some Star Wars stuff that I'll be working on. Come and watch, hang out, use the chat room, and listen to some music as we talk about the Holidays and the upcoming new year.

I'm hoping to go on at 8pm EST but I may start a little earlier, so keep an eye on my Twitter.

-----

This one journal entry is updated whenever I am doing a live streaming session so that my watchers can be notified and join in to watch. I will add a status update as well, but I'm not sure if people even see those.

When I do a stream, it would typically be on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays starting some time around 10-11pm EST. But surprises may also happen at any time!

My streaming channel has a really cool set up and my playlist has plenty of video game, anime, and movie music along with tons of other stuff. Anything can happen! Everyone is invited to watch and use the chat room to ask questions and talk about whatever.

You can also follow me on Twitter and Tumblr for streaming announcements.

Hope to see you online!

I have set up a page on Tumblr. It will have artwork, sketches, works in progress, photos, and all kinds of other stuff about games, cartoons, comics, toys, and other inspiration for artists/ninjas. Typically there is a new post every weekday. I've just gotten started about a week ago, so I would appreciate if you followed me there and helped to share my stuff. Please check it out. I promise you won't get spammed out of your mind with nonsense like some of these other blogs!

I'll also be using this Tumblr to post announcements about when I do a stream. I am going to try to do one very soon.

In case you missed it, my website has gotten a redesign and I am very interested in seeing how people like it. Please check it out and let me know what you think.

Hey guys. The long awaited new design for my website SykoGrafix is now live!

SykoGrafix 200x100 ad photo sg200x100.png

There are some cool graphics there, with the overall theme being a huge, ramshackle computer made of of crazy components and old technology, all hooked up to tubes of cyan goo. The left and right side of the main blog index are random. The machine reassembles itself with different parts each time you reload, so try to refresh your browser and see what happens!

Please check it out and put it through its paces so I can know that it'a all there and working ok. I would appreciate it if you left comments there and let me know what you think.

Now that this is done, I am going to be looking into offering commissions, More specific info will be coming soon, but if you are interested, go ahead and get in touch with me right now. We should be able to work something out.

Thanks again for all of your support here on DeviantArt and I hope to see you on SykoGrafix as well.

OK, let's do this thing.

1 - How long have you been on DeviantArt?

It says that I've been a Deviant for 10 years, but it was about a year or so after I signed up before I uploaded anything and actually started actually using the site.

2 - What does your username mean?

When I was a kid I wanted to be a robot when I grew up. As I grew older, I found out that I had become a ninja.

3 - Describe yourself in three words.

Straight-edge Shinobi Supervillain.

4 - Are you left or right handed?

Right.

5 - What was your first deviation?

This fan art of Black Jack was the first thing I uploaded.

Osamu Tezuka's BLACK JACK by ninjatron

6 - What is your favourite type of art to create?

Original character design. Esspecially aliens and robots.

7 - If you could instantly master a different art style, what would it be?

The really professional concept art paintings used in film preproduction.

8 - What was your first favourite?

It seems to be this collaborative Inu Yasha fan-art that was drawn in pencil by someone I knew. I colored it and redrew the face a little before I properly joined DA.

Youkai Inuyasha: collaboration by cathy-chan

9 - What type of art do you tend to favourite the most?

Full color illustrations.

10 - Who is your all-time favourite deviant artist?

Genzoman is the man!

11 - If you could meet anyone on DeviantArt in person, who would it be?

I would have liked to have met ChadFuller before he unfortunately passed away. He was a great dude and it would have been cool to hang out and talk about movies. RIP buddy!

12 - How has a fellow deviant impacted your life?

I will just say, in general, that I've been impacted by having an audience of many. There were times, especially before DeviantArt, when it seemed like no one was really digging what I was doing. Finding out that there were people here that do like my stuff has been a big boost to me.

13 - What are your preferred tools to create art?

Wacom tablets. Photoshop. Manga Studio. My fists.

14 - What is the most inspirational place for you to create art?

I don't know. I have a cool office with lots of books and toys, but almost anywhere can be inspirational. But I'll tell you what the least inspirational place to create art is: Art College!

15 - What is your favourite DeviantArt memory?

I have two and I'm not going to chose between them.

The first is when I uploaded the Justice League of Anime and it got pretty popular. I was worried that people were not going to get what I was going for, but those first comments were all very supportive and I could tell that they got it. I was very happy.

The second memory is when the DeviantArt crew came to Toronto and I got to meet Angelo aka spyed. He was cool and we bonded as fellow ninjas.

Avoiding the Unforseeable!

It's June already. That means it's my birthday soon. Cool, I guess.

In spite of graduating with distinction and having 10+ years of experience as an instructor, It's still been a struggle to make this whole art thing work. But it's all good. At the end of the day, I'm still an artist. I make art. That's what I have to do, so I'll get there somehow.

I uploaded a few traditional pieces I did for college that I felt like sharing. And not a moment too soon, There was some flooding right where I stored my work. A lot of it got wet. Thankfully, the damage was not too bad. I had just organized everything and scanned what I wanted a few weeks prior, so it wouldn't have been the end of the world if anything was lost forever. I'm glad it wasn't, though. I'm curious if anyone else has had some stories they'd like to share about losing or almost losing artwork due to some kind of unforeseeable circumstance. If so, please leave a comment and share.

I have not done much new illustration because I've been working on a new revision of my website SykoGrafix.com. I even took an online class to learn how to do HTML and CSS all proper-like. I hope to be able to share within the next few weeks. When that is finally up, I'm going to do a lot more to raise my profile, including getting back to doing more Ninjapocalypse, as well as a personal Tumblr for other art and stuff. I should be doing more to get my artwork out there and get some more work, but I want to do some cool fan art too. I'll be doing more art streams too, so be sure to follow me on Twitter for info on when that happens.
