Romantic - What does this mean?

Serena seemed really nervous about this contest considering that she lost her last one, but with Drew's advice and uplifting spirits, Serena regains her confidence. Drew gives her a rose and leaves, saying that he'll be watching. As Drew leaves, Serena thinks. Why is Drew going out of his way to cheer her up like this? Why did he allow her to travel along with him? Why does he give her roses? This is when Serena starts to realize that she's in love with Drew, and that also made her even more determined to win her contest and make Drew proud of her.
