1. What does your Deviantart name mean and why?
It's the name of an imaginary dragon from one of the early Terry Pratchett Discworld novels.

2. What fandom were you obsessed with when you joined and what are you into now?
I'm too old to be obsessed with fandom.

3. How many watchers do you have now?
648

4. Name 3 of your favorite artists on DA.
Too many to name.

5. Do you comment, fav, or both?
I don't comment as much as I would like to. Never enough time and often I can think of anything to say.

6. Do you participate in clubs' contests here on DA?
Some. Again, never enough time.

7. What is your most popular submission?
Peek by ninereeds-DA

8. What are your favorite non-anime TV shows?

Rain

:|

15. Coke or Pepsi?
Orange juice.

16. Read or TV?
Read – don't have TV.

40. Favorite salad and dressing?
English salad is awful – limp and stringy and belongs on a compost-heap. And what is it with places that put the completed dish under a heat lamp so the salad is served warm?!? *gag*

Sometimes I think to myself – what a wonderful world; other times... not so much.

I was just loading a set of batteries into the recharger when I noticed that they have the word "DIGITAL" prominently emblazoned upon them. Since when have we needed to distinguish between digital batteries and analogue ones?

This, of course, isn't the first time that I've seen items of camera ephemera illogically branded as "DIGITAL" – I've seen UV filters sold as "digital", camera bags and even tripods. It gets worse if you try to fathom just why the trend-whores in the marketing departments would choose to do this – there must be a small but significant portion of humanity that are damn-fool enough to fall for it.

And that is a sad thought.

It's like spam – we all hate it but it works. Maybe not on you and me, but it works. If it didn't work, they wouldn't do it. Which means that there are people out there who actually buy knock-off viagra, penis enhancement treatments and believe that they can "get ripped in four weeks".

What a world.

Ever have that feeling that you're running just to stay in the same place, and if you stop to catch your breath it will all slip away from you?

I'm scanning some negs while writing this and using Adobe Bridge to view them. Bridge lets you rate your images from 0 to 5 stars and my usual practice is to rate the raw scans from 1 star (has promise) up to 4 stars (we have a winner!) and zero stars are bound for the trash-can. I sometimes wish that bridge had a -1 stars options – for OMG what was I thinking! Some images are so bad that deleting them just isn't enough – there needs to be an options for "let us never speak of this again" :)

Onwards and upwards.

I love my Holga. I love the low-tech, plastic, primitiveness of it – but it does have some odd features. I was joking with a friend of mine about the need for a special after-market rubber band to keep the Holga's back from falling open – though I have now solved this problem through the cunning application of self-adhesive velcro. Where more expensive cameras have wonderful, precision engineered devices to keep the film flat and under tension as it is wound through; the Holga has two pieces of foam.

We had a snow-fall last night so I went out for a wander with the Holga this morning. As I was changing rolls I noticed two things: one of these two critical pieces of foam was missing, and the finished film was what the Holga community refer to as a fat roll - this is where the film hasn't been wound tight enough onto the take-up reel. I'm guessing that the missing piece of foam has got itself wound up in the roll and I'll find it when I process the film. All part of the Holga experience, I suppose :)
