Dragon's Egg

Never has so many fought so hard for something so... indifferent. The Egg seems to sit on the edge of a cliff, cushioned on three sides by the some of the most devilish stone masonry in the Eyeland's long and bloody history, each layer of defense bearing the signature of the kingdom that tried in vain to claim the egg for its own. The fact that the egg has never actually done anything, or been made into anything, or even divulged a shred of knowledge or even trivia, doesn't seem to bother any of the contestants. 

Everyone agree that it'd been here since the first settlement of man, possibly even before that.
That's only because those people have as little imagination as they have knowledge of the arcane, for the arcanist know that the egg was here for so long that not only did the nations of man rise and fall around it like the tides, but the great earth itself as well. But just how long had it really been here, and what in the twin's name it is, they're as clueless as anyone. 

All this changed, when on that fateful day, the egg cracked.
