I don't know what happened to my comments, but apparently something went very wrong when I uploaded this last night. Here's what I said:
THIS IS NOT A CONDEMNMENT OF THE CHILDREN OF THE NIGHT VIDEO, it is ONLY an expression of the way it made me feel. And the way I think the real Celestia might react to this kind of thing.
I’d been looking forward to the video for so long when I finally saw it today… my heart fell through my chest. They spent that amount of time and effort to bully Celestia? It’s such an excellent video in so many ways, but I just can’t enjoy it. Not anymore.
I mean no offense to team who created it… they’re far greater creators than I. I also mean no insult nor challenge to the people who love it, but any art that portrays Celestia in that way is just incompatible with my way of thinking.
Edit: Since so many people are asking, here's specifically why I think this way:
See this pic: imgur.com/lW6WGXf
1) Celestia "forbade" the new colony. Portrayed as angry and controlling both in the words and in the illustration. This is not consistent her character. In the premiere, she "pleaded" and was "reluctant". Kind, not controlling.
2) Portraying the sisters as divided and having to resort to force. I just don't like the message. It goes 180 counter to what I think the ponies represent and should be.
3) The existence of neglected foal living on the streets. I just don't believe that would happen in Celestia's city... probably not anywhere (though I must admit, people pointed out that considering how long ago this was, there might have been and I can accept that).
Once again, I'm not trying to fight anyone or instigate, this video just disappointed me. It portrays the world, the sisters, and Celestia in ways that I just can't support.

I know this is old but I'm compelled to give my thoughts if that's okay.
The video's story was being told through a pony that Luna took. That's why there's some "anti-Celestia" bias there. The entire thing was a half-truth that the unicorn was raised to believe. She was only told what Luna told her. She never had the chance to ask Celestia's side. While Celestia may have been firm about why a new colony wasn't feasible at the time, it would've been within Luna's character at the time to see it as worse than it was. You also have to remember that the video's time placement was before Nightmare Moon even showed up but the video made some pretty clear implications that the headcanon presented was a contributing factor to Nightmare Moon's rise in the first place. The sisters were already divided by that time because Luna felt underappreciated. She wanted to create a niche kingdom of her own and raise ponies who would appreciate her. Hence why she took foals no one would miss. If Discord was the last villain the Sisters fought before Nightmare Moon came, then they had already dealt with Sombra and Tirek, both of whom were very tough customers to deal with and would've caused socioeconomic strain on Equestria.
If a kingdom was weakened because of a large-scale battle/war, the last thing any country should do is weaken itself further by expanding territory. That's just asking for enemies to swoop in and destroy you. It's just bad prioritizing. Celestia may have been open to colonization if the kingdom had ample time to recover from its past ordeals. The video's unicorn even says "For she felt it would divide and shatter the WEAKENED kingdom, forever". The keyword is "weakened". You NEVER start an undertaking of that magnitude if your own country is barely hanging on after a large battle or war. This is another reason why some of the foals were on the street to start with and some were taken from what looked like an orphanage. As sad as it is, governments have to prioritize some things over others if they want their nations to recover.
The show presents the sisters battling both Discord and Sombra in a single engagement but that's just how the show operates. With Sombra at the very least, Equestria had to have been involved in an all-out war to stop his Empire. The show has shown us time and again (before and since this video) that Equestria is not a utopia. It has its dark sides.
If Equestria were perfect, as you seemed to have thought when you posted this, then there never would've BEEN major and minor villains who go counter to the ideals presented at all. That's boring, lazy writing. That's the beauty of this video. It's headcanon, sure, but it's headcanon that gives its own contribution to world-building and presents the Sisters realistically, instead of the idealized versions we see in the show.
