[13/5/2014] femininity=/='uke' stereotype
This probably won't end up in depth because I'm not a very good writer, but there's just something I wanted to comment on that I've been noticing in the people who comment/repost my art(to places like tumblr) and it's the 'uke' stereotype. For the people who don't know, the 'uke' stereotype is basically a submissive bottom in a homosexual relationship. It's a stereotype that depicts weepy, teary-eyed, slender men who are submissive and dependant on the top in the relationship. It's usually portrayed in Japanese anime media and fanworks, and well... There's already a huge issue with this stereotype when it comes to comparing it to an actual homosexual relationship, but loads of people have already discussed that before so I won't bother.
The problem with this stereotype is that it leads people to believe that if a character is shown being in touch with their feminine side, or shown doing anything that could be considered as 'girly' or even dressing in women's clothing, that they're an '
