Tama never understood her orientation. Since childhood, she was not like other lionesses, to be delicate and to be the type of girl waiting for her prince charming. She went through various states during puberty, and it wasn't until her teenage years that she discovered she was becoming a maned lioness (aka trans). For Nala's sake, she tried dating other male lions but without success. She was in a huge shock when one hug from her close friend Kula was enough to make her body start to twitch and she felt the proverbial "butterflies in her stomach". For a long time, she resisted these feelings and tried to hide her infatuation to Kula, and when Simba returned and took the throne, Tama and Kula officially became mates (Kula was the first to confess her feelings).

And yes. They will be Afua's parents. 😋

I just loved the idea of a Tama being a maned lioness. In my new headcanon, Tama is trans and a lesbian. Kula has bi vibes for me. 😅
