looks interesting...is this tale based off a specific tribe? or actual native American tale?

Thank you Michelle. The book was written by Howard Angus Kennedy who worked in Canada for long time as a journalist. It is based on native American tales, mainly from Great Lakes District and Woodland, and The Rocky Mountains and Great Plains are mentioned there as well. There are Cree, Mohawk, Huron, Algonquin and Odjibwe mentioned. Each tale in the book starts as if it was told by the Indian teller Ossawippi who seems to be Odjibwe I guess.
