If your following me wanting for seeing my art/story telling I've actually been working on this for a while now and will be for several years into the future.

It's an attempt to deconstruct the whole monstergirl thing.

Personally I think their adorable, Especially the more monstrous ones.

But I can't deny there are problematic things going on here and in the world of media in general.

So I'm working on exploring some of that stuff for myself in story form.

Hey there! I discovered your Deep Nobles a few days ago and I was absolutely enamoured with the concept as I adore exotic creatures and aliens of that sort. I also felt that I had to make my own. A persona of sorts, heh. I'm not the best artist but I gave it my best shot with the anatomical characteristics from your original post:… Drew two different poses.

It's an awesome species!

AH wonderful and thank you, it's an old one and the original story I wrote to feature them is mostly lost to the internet due to a server wipe of the forum it lived on. But I bring them around for cameos in my current works. Also they are supposed to be under a creative commons license/free use policy so you are free to go on and use them however you wish as long as you credit me.

Go forth and be inspired! it is literally what I made them for.

That's awesome to hear, and if I post any designs/commission anything featuring designs inspired from the species I'll be sure to credit you as the designer! Interestingly enough, I learned of them through TVTropes. I believe your story still exists via archived pages, so I may need to take a look. Finding the original forum post certainly helped quite a bit with figuring things out.

I played around a little bit more with my persona design:……

I actually also had a couple more questions if you didn't mind my asking, just a few things that I was curious based off the forum post.

1. Do they have a particular home realm or planet/solar system/galaxy/universe? Could be interesting playing with setting.

2. If I were to add some more detail to my current design, perhaps to give it a bit of flair similar to a crinoid (or "feather starfish", something like this:… ), would that be seen as an "aberrant" trait or flaw by the wider Noble society? I see that they're very particular about anatomy, from what you've written up on them. I have the major anatomy finalized, but I'm just thinking on potential finishing touches I could add on or tweak. And then of course naming...

3. As far as dealing with any other species (humans included), do they pay them any heed at all, or just ignore them/subjugate them into machinery/servitude? Just thinking on possible interactions.

Sorry for the long post but I enjoy worldbuilding things a lot!

Oh, and thanks for the watch!

Did you find the more 'monster manual' type post I made of them a while ago?…

The main thing is Deep Nobles are highly individualistic and their view on an aberration of physical form is not about physical traits, so much as quality of life. Deep Nobles don't purge one another out of malice or fear. They do it out of kindness when they perceive that another is in terminal pain, unable to over come it.

The core of the philosophy of the species could be summed up as they believe life should be lived in quality over quantity. To a deep noble it is trivially easy to 'survive' forever. Given the need they can live slowly and agonizingly on rocks.

But none of them particularly want too.

Their idiosyncrasies are embraced, their differences are celebrated and their societies freely welcome others to explore and be whatever they wish.

However when they consider a living creature other then a Deep Noble at all as morally relevant at all it is either because they are individually interested in the creatures for one reason or another, or out of how they relate to another Deep Noble's Well being. They rarely have any room for empathy for anything like a human being, they on average have as much care for other sentient organisms as human society does for yeast.

As a science fiction trope Deep Nobles are a kind of distorted mirror of what humanity could become. They have won at every biological contest and struggle we ourselves face. They could reproduce spontaneously and endlessly as fast as bacteria. But simply choose not too. They have both the depths of our potential empathy for each other and the capacity for utter callousness for all that which is not included in our culture as important.

You have an eye for speculative biology and anatomy. I don't find many people like that. Thank you for making the art!

I am currently trying to read Deep Rise using the Wayback Machine, since it sounds incredibly fascinating, and what I could recover lived up to my expectations. However, because the original MSPA forums have been destroyed, there are significant gaps in the story, and it isn't archived on the MSPAFA mirror. Is there another way that I can read your complete story, or do I have to rely on this?
