Quentinius Reference - 2019

BACKSTORY

Quen is an expert on computer, electronics, coding and programming, but isn’t very good with people. In fact, he hates humans and other organic life forms. This short tempered often acts arrogant and superior. 

He once worked for a company that developed programs and electronic innovations, but he eventually quit because he thought he was better than everyone else. (Or, it’s unclear whether he quit or got fired first; there were a lot of complaints about his distasteful personality and uncooperativeness). He found an abandoned hidden lab and decided to inhabit it. From there on he became a freelancer and took commissions from various clients; some who might also have had dangerous intentions. Quen, doesn’t really care about who they are as long as he gets payed for his work.  

He is good at staying out of sight from the authorities and spends most of his time hidden in his secret residence, working on commissions or doing experiments. He seldom goes out; only for important errands or dealing with clients. He also low-key hopes the human race extincts themselves eventually while he says hidden.

HOW QUEN AND MAGNUS MET:

One night, Quen broke in to an abandoned facility to look for the resources there. What he wasn’t aware of was that Magnus had been following him all the way inside. Magnus had heard about Quen’s work and had located his whereabouts that afternoon.

Coincidentally enough, it was the same location Magnus used to search for engineering materials. Shortly, a timed explosion was triggered by a malfunctioning computer; the building was set to collapse. Quen managed to escape in time, but Magnus got caught in the rubbles at the entrance. However, Quen caught a glimpse of Magnus at the very moment the roof collapsed on him.

At first sight, he thought Magnus was an android because of the markings on his face, so he went to investigate. As he pulled the unconscious kid from the ruins, he noticed that Magnus’s leg had been torn off, and that blood was pouring out. Now realising this was a human, the situation had changed. But it was far too late to delay any further as the police were already alerted by the explosion.

Out of impulse, Quen decided to help Magnus and brought him to his residence. There he replaced his leg with a mechanical one along with mending other damages. After waking up in Quen’s laboratory, Magnus managed to convince the android he was so fascinated about to let him live with him and observe his work. And that is how they met :3

SOME FACTS:

• Quen can display and interact with his hologram screens from both his palms. He can also access his main computer in his lab from his limbs.
  
• Throughout the years he has made upgrades to himself constantly. Like the hologram projectors are his own installment.
• He once had silicone skin over his body, but peeled that away.
• He has sensors and pain receptors, which he can switch off at any moment.
• He likes to keep his laboratory clean and tidy; he hates contamination.
  
• As an android, Quen doesn’t eat nor sleep; eating is actually quite uncomfortable for him and is probably not very healthy.
  
• He can still display emotions, however; he tends to get easily annoyed and throws tantrums and rants a lot when he’s angry.
  
• He rarely gets physical when angry. There is something embedded deep within him that prevents him from killing humans, despite his contempt for them. He’s not homicidal though.
  
• Magnetic fields make him act drunk and intoxicated.
