acrylic 8x10"  Just messing around, it was an unplanned painting started by scribbling with the paint and looking for aspects to embellish.  I'm not entirely sure what is going on in the painting, perhaps you could tell me?

It's always the best result when you improvise with artwork and this piece came out beautifully. i like this very much. well done.

Thank you for your comments, glad you like it!  I agree, there's a lot more room for surprises and discovery in a spontaneous piece.  The lack of planning can sometimes require a good amount of re-working.

I imagine something from the Norse mythology: perhaps, a tribe of Dwarfs discovered the head of the dead giant Ymir and turned it into their temple?

I like this interpretation, I love Norse mythology but it hadn't at all crossed my mind while painting this. Thanks for playing :)

Good job! Mysterious, interesting, kinda creepy. I think these two guys may be feeding something ancient and dangerous :D

Thanks! :) I appreciate your thoughts... I hadn't thought of it as a feeding action, but now that you mention it I see how it could represent the way one might feed fish or birds... I think you're right that it probably isn't fish or birds down there.

A fine work of art, my Friend. Thought provoking and symbolic. I also notice a similarity in the face here and one of your carvings.

Thanks Daniel! :) I have a very convenient and willing model in my mirror

I work in front of a mirror in my shop as well. It comes in handy for detailing expressions.

What an interesting scene~! I really like the composition of this piece, and the lighting makes those hooded figures so ominous~!

:) Thank you! :) I like putting some mystery in a painting, it allows the viewer some room to wonder about the story.

I find myself thinking "ancient temple craved deep within a vast cavern." Maybe it's a temple to hoary Nodens or some unnamed deity. :) (Smile)

I also had that carved out of natural stone feeling. I appreciate the input! :)
