There was a time when skies were bluer and clouds soared higher and ghosts filled the blackness between every star.
A boy had a recurring dream...a girl, who somehow, he knew he loved would be walking across from him in a wooded park of tall green oaks and singing birds beyond a deep blue pond on a path to somewhere nowhere, a place impossibly beyond existence. Wonder, the boy did, who she was and where she was going and why she looked over her shoulder back at him. Yet in another dream or in a future life he did not know but only a fleeting vision that seemed so real as if painted by the hand of some devious God. He did feel for a moment, if only in a heart veiled in sleep, a true love that would haunt his consciousness forever. Did she dream him into existence only to find her one day or did he only dream a scar upon his soul? Does love transcend subconsciousness to connect lives across gossamer paths that cannot be traveled by conscious minds? Only in a dream can a solution seem to be found. Until eyes open and savage reality steals the truth.
