I'm not pregnant and just paralyzed

"You touch me without my permission assume I'm pregnant?"

I try not to make a scene in public, but I feel my face reddening, and my anger growing. What gives this stranger the right to touch me without my permission?! Why do they assume I'm pregnant?! The situation is already humiliating enough, with my stomach bulging due to a lack of abdominal muscles. But to add insult to injury with a touch from a stranger is too much. The sarcasm and anger have faded from my voice, replaced by a mix of exhaustion and hurt.
"Yes," I say, "I am paralyzed from the chest down. My stomach is like this because I am quadriplegic, not pregnant. Is that so hard to understand?"
