I feel lonely

Sitting alone amongst other people laughing and talking around her, Jane felt isolated from the rest of the room despite technically being in the center of it. The party carried on, ignoring the one person who simply couldn’t join in the same way as everyone else.

The wheelchair she sat in felt like a cruel reminder of her own limitations. She watched as people walked freely, chatted amongst themselves, while she was trapped in her seat – a symbol of her own helplessness.

The sense of loneliness only intensified as she observed the joyous atmosphere around her.
