about the characters designs:
a few things about the design. I have divided the heroes and villains in two camps. The villains define the human by their biology, they believe that what is to be human is to have two eyes, two arms, two legs etc. The heroes on the other hand have machine-bodies (they still have a brain though). And the point is to show that you can make a character that looks relatable without having it have a human body. what I have tried to do is give them similar analogs to human features.
Also each of them have a "worm item". It is something that is extremely human. like the hat on the icecream guy or the umbrella.
The hero/villain trait. So each one of them has a special trait that is relevant to the "story" and an opposite in the other group. like discipline and laziness. my idea is that at some point the villain would learn from the actions of the hero and then decide to improve himself. all of them except for the coward, since he is the opposite of the main character (courage) he would be left for last.
I have some vague idea for the background of the story I made for this. so my idea was solar system colonization era. All characters would be colonist, the heroes have machine-bodies because they are low-paid workers and the villains are either wealthy upper class or autonomous colonies. The colonies mine and sell resources to the metropol in earth, but need vital resources to live (like air and water). Because of a war back on earth resources arriving from earth are much less reliable. and so political in-fighting is slowly turning into a civil war.
The heroes live outside, in the vacuum of space, since their machine-bodies can stand this environment no problem. The villains on the other hand live in sealed domes where there is air to breath.
