Hey folks!
This past week was a nightmare of deadlines and projects, which is why I didn't upload any new pieces to my gallery in a few days. Luckily, things should settle down a bit so I can get back to daily posting.
With so much work to catch up with, Freedom Fighting Fridays' latest addition had to be delayed to today, which I've affectionally called Songwriting Saturday
Why? Because this new FREE MARS illustration is a bit of a remake of an old piece we used as an interlude when the webcomic was out, showing Vikki Grimm in her quarters composing. A very quiet scene, the likes of which I love. To me, one of the key aspects of proper world-building and believable sci-fi is to have the characters doing things that can be ralatable to our present day. Of course, there will be the technological twist, but it is in those details that we assimilate this new creative reality and incorporate its workings so that when something bigger happens, it makes sense within the whole you've established. As usual, it's something I picked up from Ridley Scott and which I hope I've conveyed here.
