Dang. I know you made this as a postapocalyptic underwater world,, seeing something like this is depressing.

Well, I just have to wait and see where you go with this - honestly, I think you've already gotten off to a strong start in terms of establishing the tone of this story!
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
It starts out depressing, but picks up as it goes on and Minnow's life changes.

As for the flood, the funny thing is, it happened so long ago, that mankind has, for the most part, recovered and most people don't really miss land much.

Okay. Still makes looking at the past - and technically our present and likely future - pretty sobering and kinda harsh, though.

Nice welding torch attachment! I gotta wonder why someone's bedroom was behind the big ominous yellow door though...Merman Hannibal Lector?
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
Nah. It was just painted yellow because that was the favorite color of whatever kid used to live here. You may've noticed, in the previous page, furniture and utensils covered with... stuff. They're inside an apartment.

Well, that Would explain why there were no warning signs on it...

They are very well done I'm liking the lighting and the colours of the underwater environment, it defiantly gives off that surreal feeling of the deep, characters are cool as well hoping to see more in the future

Yeah, there's going to be a lot of scenes where one dominating color is the focus, oftentimes to reflect Minnow's own emotional state.

Looks good so far!
Can I give ya some advice?  theres a lot of spikes/bumps on some of the panels, I recommend rubbing them out just so the panels can look a lot more cleaner. ^^
either way can't wait for future pages.
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
Yeah, don't think I didn't notice those. I've really been debating with myself whether to rub them out or leave them in. On the one hand, sure, that would be cleaner, on the other, people might find it endearing? Like they'll see, "Oh, this started out as a sketch on paper! How quaint!"
0-0master's avatar
Indeed. I just think it would look nicer without the spikes/bumps :)
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
I know. I'm just waiting to see what other people's response to it may be. I'm pretty sure I will do some touching up when I put the final draft of the book together.

This comic reminds me of subnautica
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
Eehhhh... it kind of worries me that most of the comments on Planet Ripple material (so far) are people saying it reminds them of that, or Aquaria, a game I reviewed a few months ago. Do people really think I based this comic on those or something?
MysticD's avatar
Well, they're all underwater themed so of course it'll remind of it.
NickOnPlanetRipple's avatar
I just hope people don't assume I'm ripping those off or something.
MysticD's avatar
Nah, no such thing as ripping off others, not unless you copied the idea 100% then claimed its your own original idea.

Hopefully as time goes on, more differences will become apparent. Looks good so far.
