Talk about living in the slums...

Oh man....she's like a zombie in this state, with her blank stare and the way she needs to keep a full awareness of her physical health. Just the fact that she needs to put tape around her waist speaks to this story's atmosphere and Minnow's crumbling state.

Yeah. By the time this part of the story picks up, she's already kind of at the end of her rope. but, you know what they say. When you hit rock bottom, the only place to go is up.

Oh my god, is her skin rotting/infected where her prosthetics meet her shoulders? If so, why hasn't the ship's Doctor dragged her to sick bay by now? That can't be good.

Cyborg limbs like these are plugged into "cuffs" that are grafted into the body. Over time, they may need cuffs replaced with larger ones, or cleaner ones. When the body rejects them, they need a special serum that stops the infections. Minnow can't afford much, so she's had to get by with putting whatever she can find on the sores growing around those areas. Frankly, she's lucky to be alive. You'll see why she hasn't been able to meet a doctor soon enough.
