Towson, Maryland's "Richard & Annette Bloch Cancer Survivors Park" has a number of odd statues, most of which fall into the uncanny valley. Everything is somewhat surreal and off-kilter, perhaps deliberately so as an artistic choice, and this weird rabbit clutched in the hands of an equally weird girl is no exception. Aside from gothic lolitas hanging around Shinjuku, I'm not sure who would think that an appropriately reassuring toy for a child with cancer would be a stuffed bunny that looks perpetually freaked out. The theme of the piece was apparently supposed to be anxiety at the prospect of facing treatment for cancer, but does that really have to extend to a toy clutched in the arms of a statue as well?

The bunny doesn't look "scared"...

Perturbed? Terrified? Shocked? Intimidated? Aghast? Thunderstruck? Horrified? Dumbfounded? Amazed?

Well now I'm curious. Did you think I was going for "scarred" or "sacred"?

...I think what disturbs me most here is that this rabbit has pawpads...

See, that's exactly the kind of response you don't want to evoke in somebody with or recovering from cancer. Can't imagine the thought process that went into this.:baffled:
