There's a local community garden just outside of Parkville, Maryland's Double Rock Park that residents can buy plots in each year. While I've seen a few smaller ones kicking around Baltimore City as well, they're all in hideous disarray and completely untended. This one is actually incredibly well kept up (county residents apparently being more invested in their civic projects), and a wide variety of vegetables are grown every year. Even more prevalent than the food are patches of flowers, and given the fact that they aren't ever harvested and taken away for home display I assume that they're added to the mix solely for the benefit of pollinating the other plants and for the overall health of the bees, flutterbys, and other insects in the area.
