Description
This week's assignment: A personal protagonist and antagonist, characters based out of our life experience. It was a really rough week for me...I started pretty strong, but by the middle of the design process I was really lagging...and then in the last possible moment I went to the school library picture collection, pulled a file on Chinese costume and Kojo took shape. I don't know how attached I am yet, but I am quite pleased and he was well received by all. The concept I wanted to tackle was brotherhood (I know they're young and super ambiguous, but they're both brothers...he'll probably get reworked). I was all into this Celtic warrior motif with braided beards and all that, and ultimately it just wasn't working the way I wanted it to. The best thing in situations like that, as it turns out, is to move away from the source material you're stuck on. I put on some Yoshida Brothers and had some odd dreams in expansive grassy plains. Obviously I came back to the Celticish-thing, but the result is very different, with significantly less beard per square inch.
I could go on and on, but really, that's what my blog is for...I'll probably elaborate on all this later in the evening when I have more time over there: [link]
and if you want to know what this sounds like to me, I highly recommend hunting down a song called "Frontier" by the Yoshida Brothers!
Hope y'all like him! (And no, I'm not sure about the name...I just thought it was funny )
