StH: Stormblazer Oakrune by NicGiraffe StH: Stormblazer Oakrune by NicGiraffe
One of my Sonic OFCs, Stormblazer the unicorn. He has a prominent role in a story I'm presently working on entitled "Knight Errand", where he serves as Antoine's mentor. Personality-wise, think a cross between Hans Solo and Obi Wan Kenobi.

This is my first time drawing an equine, and it's rather challenging to get them to not look freakish.

I've read that you have trouble with equines, but this really is not bad. It's actually pretty good for a first attempt. I really hope you do unicorns (and other equines) in the future.

And one can definitely see the Kenobi influence when Stormwind blindfolds Antoine.~

Well thank you, I really appreciate that. :) You might like to know that I happened to come across an older pic of another unicorn I started on but didn't finish. I'm in the process of finishing it for dA.

Ooo, good point!

...*Stormblazer, sorry. ><

Anyway, you're welcome. ^^ And that would be great, I'll look forward to it. :) Also, after making that comment I was reminded that you'd a sketch of Quickdraw and Thirty-Thirty, and I have to say it's really well-done, both for Thirty-Thirty's equine and robot features.

Ah, so the blindfold it wasn't an intentional reference? I was wondering if it was, but somehow I had gotten the idea you weren't familiar with or didn't like Star Wars or something.

It's fine, it happens. :) I have a problem with people who never bother to get my characters' name correct, but clearly that wasn't the case here.

Thank you! 30/30 wasn't easy to draw, but it relieves me to hear that you feel he turned out well. I'd actually like to take another crack at drawing him.

LOL, not really. It's just a happy coincidence. This may come as a shock, but while I have a basic familiarity with Star Wars, I've never actually watched any of the films before. I don't hate it or anything like that. It just took a while for me to get into outer space sci-fi. I actually like the concept of the series and the Jedi more so, but it seems like there's so much canon to follow. I get the impression from other people that only the original three movies are worth bothering with, so I'll be sure to give them a watch sometime.

Heh. Yeah, just a subconscious slip.

You're welcome. :) And I'm sure you'll do a great job.

Oh! Well then. xD I'm not so shocked, since I was already thinking that. As for the setting itself, well, the books and things beyond the movies aren't really canon. (I'm not sure about the cartoons.) I would be one of those people who only likes the original movies, except that I also really love Tartakovsky's little cartoon series.

Thank you!

Oh. Well then. XD You mean the cartoon with General Grevious? Would you recommend it? I do like Symbionic Titan, and to a lesser extent, Samurai Jack (other things Tartakovsky's done, though you may already be aware of that).

You're welcome again. xD

Well, heh, Grievous is in both cartoons. But he was introduced to the world in Tartakovsky's cartoon. And it is my good opinion he is at his best there. I would definitely recommend it. It may be my favourite thing in the Star Wars franchise. Though I'm not sure if it stands on its own.

I've never heard of Symbiotic Titan, but I do know Samurai Jack. I used to be quite a fan (not that I've stopped liking it, but I haven't watched it in a long time).

Oh okay. I thought he was just in the one cartoon. I will certainly give it a watch then. XD What little I've seen of Grievous does make him look mad awesome.

Symbiotic Titan was pretty good I thought. It was canceled after one season, unfortunately. :( I don't know what you'd think of it, but since you like both Tartakovsky and SatAM you may like it.

Yeah, they look hard, that's for sure! You drew him very well, though! I really loved the fanfic that you wrote with him in it. I believe it was on Fanfiction.net, right? Anyways, great story, and I'll have to re-read it again soon!

:)

*nods* Yep, the updated version of Knight Errand is over at FF.net (there might be a couple of crappy old versions somewhere out among the dust of the web though). I'm still working on the last (two?) chapters, but I'm hoping to have it finished soon.

Just curious, but do you have a FF.net account?

Cool! Can't wait until it's finished! I don't have a FF.net account yet. Hopefully I will someday though!

Okay, that's good! I will have to sign up someday, or at least after I actually write down my stories. Another reason why the graphic novel I am starting on will take forever; because I know that I will have to write at least some of it before drawing the panels! Lol, I am good at stories in my head, but I fail a little when it comes to writing it down! Well, I guess I need a little practice XD!
