Captain Amelia Doppler by NicGiraffe Captain Amelia Doppler by NicGiraffe
This might wind up in scraps, but I did this a couple of years ago just to see if I could draw her. It was taken from a character/model sheet I found for her. And before I get people telling me Doppler isn't Amelia's last name, in my headcanon she married Delbert and took his last name. Besides, the movie never gave her a surname to begin with, so why not?

She's great:D Hmm if she had a surname before marrying Delbert, what would it be?

Thank you. :) I feel like a dingus for not mentioning this the first time around, but I remember in a lot of fanfics I saw her last name is given as Smollet. Not sure where that originates from, but I use it.

Thank you. :) I actually don't hate Jim per say. He's just not my favorite character in the film. To me he's one of those characters like Jack Frost from Rise Of The Guardians -- they're fine in the movie, but the way fans over-hype and worship them, it starts irking me to the extent where I'm just like, "Go away, Jim/Jack. I'm really tired of you two."

The Jim/Silver relationship was very nice, Morph was terribly cute, and I liked everyone else.

Yes, I see the similarities between them. That'd be a great idea for a crossover actually, Jim and Kit hanging out together.

Aside from the lead (who's kinda dull, IMHO), Amelia's the other character from the movie that everybody remembers (and seems to pretty much like), but yep, she's still underrated compared to other Disney movie characters. Treasure Planet needs more love in general though.

This is really good! :D I still haven't seen the movie, but I do remember this character and you did a great job on her. I've only seen a few piece of the movie here and there, which I do remember liking.

And I see no problems with that headcanon. Do they get together in the movie?

Thanks! I really think you should watch it. I don't care if you have to go into a Wal-Mart and steal a DVD, just get it and see it.

They do get together, but there 's quite few anti-Delbert pple out there who don't like that he and Amelia hooked up. They want to pair Amelia off with her first mate or *shudder* Jim Hawkins. 'Cause there's nothing like that sexy underage ass.

I definitely will! I'll make it one of the rewards for getting my IRL stuff done LOL. (Apparently I'm 5 years old and need rewards for doing my work.) It also has a lot of actors in it I love. As smarmy as JGL is, I still like him LMAO. And of course Emma Thompson and David Hyde Pierce are always amazing. I also love Laurie Metcalf which is why I'm sad I don't see her nearly as often.

I'm not surprised. There's always someone who hates a character. Although there's an adult way to hate a character and a not-so-adult way LOL. That being said ew at pairing a grown woman with a child. I'm normally respectful of other pairings I don't like (even if I'll be honest on my feelings about it), but I draw the line at incest, pedos and pairing someone off with their rapist and/or abuser.

I can't make fun of you, since I've recently started doing the same thing where I'll reward myself for accomplishing something. XD It actually works. Excellent, further incentive for you to watch it. XD The last thing I remember Laurie Metcalf in was that Norm MacDonald show on ABC. But maybe she's been in more recent stuff that I just never paid any attention to.

True. These anti-Delbert pple are doing it the wrong way. And IKR? Ugh. But pple get weird when it comes to Jim. He's like the Jack Frost of Treasure Planet/Disney in that regard.

I feel better now that I've found out that a lot of adults do this LOL. I'm going to be semi-useless today due to illness so maybe today is the day to watch it. It's not like I'm going to be a functioning adult today. And she was? NGL I miss Norm MacDonald, too. He's not one of my all-time favs, but he's comforting to have around. He's like the entertainment version of that uncle you like having around even if he's not your favorite uncle because he shows up and says/does some weird shit before going home. Plus he's just a nostalgic figure for me.

Yep. Like go ahead and hate a character. It's totally cool. I've hated harmless characters in the past myself and I've hated some characters for superficial reasons before. I just try to be honest with myself about it. Will I rant about them? Yeah, but I'd never go after people who do like them or do anything like an anti-club or whatever else people do. Although the new thing is to analyze every action of a character to try and label them as an abuser. That way, if someone ships them with anyone, they can go "OMG you literally approve of abuse! You're an abuse apologist!" As someone who grew up with an abuser and had a hard time getting people to understand it (including myself), this is a new trend that just boils my blood. (E.g. "They had a disagreement with someone. ABUSER!!!") And whenever I've seen abuse victims try to speak out against this they get told they're an "internalized abuse apologist" which is disgusting. (Fandom knows all the legit terms but have completely twisted them for their own benefit.)

I am so glad that wasn't a trend when I was a child in fandom and didn't understand what I was living with because it would have messed me up even more TBH. I was already struggling to learn what was normal and what wasn't. I thought I'd like people being more aware of abusive behavior, but then life went "LOL Did you forget most people are idiots or...?" It just gets used for ship wars and not because people care. It's also a trend that has forced me to defend characters I hate before. (I know, I know, that's like complaining about having a hang nail in the cancer ward.) Sorry, I got tl;dr LMAO.

That being said, I just keep my thoughts to my own corner of the net and don't expect people to agree with me about everything I say. I also like to think I can have civil disagreements. I do think that some of the adult woman/teenager shipping comes from teenagers and kids. I think when you are that young, it doesn't click how messed up it is. (I'm more forgiving of teens/kids because I assume most will realize later why that's creepy.) Although I see a lot of adults who are into that... Hell, the author of Yu-Gi-Oh paired a 24-year-old woman with a 16-year-old boy. Gross. This is why I'll only watch the Abridged version because he makes fun of that LOL. And yeah, that's true! I mean, I don't hate Jack Frost, but he's just meh to me. He can be fun to write, but I feel like fandom obsesses over him too much. IDK characters like Jack and, I can already tell, Jim are kind of a dime a dozen to me. Sorry Joseph Gordon-Levitt, you smarmy little shit, I can already tell what road this is gonna go down.

Yeah, pple need to learn how to just live and let live. LOL oh Internet. Hearing that makes me so happy that I avoid fandoms now. If I dislike a character, the worse I might do to them is poke fun of them in fan art, and even then it's more of a satirical nature rather then say, something violent or unpleasant happening to said character.

Haha, it's fine. I totally get your frustration at having to deal with that kind of idiocy. You know if common sense was common... When I was a kid, fandoms had their problem, but I don't recall them being quite as screwed up as they are now? Unless I just wasn't hitting the right spots.

I wouldn't doubt that some of the crazy age difference shipping stems from kids and teens. Agreed, I can't really get mad at them for doing stuff like that either because of their ages. Exactly, it's the adults who ship these pedophilic couplings that skeeve me out. Really? Did not know that about Yu-Gi-Oh, but ugh! I don't feel bad for not watching that series now.

Same here. I'll totally make fun of characters I don't like, but I also make fun of characters I DO like so it's not like I'm being totally unfair. I make fun of everyone LOL. I think that's why sometimes people can't tell if I like or hate something. That and, honestly, it's very rare for me to flat out hate characters in most things. I'm normally just apathetic to characters I don't care for or I just think of them as boring. But, like you, doing violent or unpleasant things to them is a bit too much. Unless I'm trying to build their character up, but that's because I want to give them obstacles and not because I want to punish them for existing.

Fandom has always been obnoxious; it's just they figure out how to be self-righteous about it which is what's making it worse now. Back when we were kids/teenagers, when people hated a character or ship(s), they would just fight like idiots about it. You could laugh at it because everyone was being ridiculous and half the time it'd end up on something like Fandom Wank. They had to be like "But this character is a stupid buttface!" However, once fandom got their mitts on actual SJ discussion points, they immediately twisted them to be like "My ship is superior because your ship is abusive." It stopped just being preference and became moral superiority. The other shippers are bad guys because, oh man, they support abuse! Back in the day, the other shippers had to be bad guys just because the person thought they were stupid, which doesn't really let them win the fight instantly. But most of fandom's interest in anything related to SJ ends at fandom. Fandom has ruined so many genuine terms like trigger(s) and gaslighting. I will set my computer on fire if I see one more person misuse the word gaslighting at this point. I think giving it an SJ slant is what makes it worse because it's become so much more of an attack on groups of people.

Back in the day, the out of control fans/shippers were just fighting among themselves and the non-weirdos could ignore them. Even if they attacked you it was like "LOL Okay, whatever." Now when they come for you, they can convince the rest of fandom you're an abuse apologist or whatnot and get several people attacking you, or guilt trip people who've done nothing wrong. And abusive personality types have definitely learned how to tap into this. (I've seen that in action, but I won't name names here.) I also think Fandom SJ makes it easier to drag in people who would have otherwise been rational or stayed out of it. Because now it's "If you don't side with us, you support abuse/racism/homophobia/ect." So the awfulness was always there, but the nature of it has changed. It also sucks because when you do come across a character who seems abusive or racist/sexist/homophobic/etc, but isn't being treated like they are in canon, the conversation is muddled and you can't have it with fandom. Because even if people agree with you, they'll jump on it and go out of control with it, so you find yourself taking ten steps back on a conversation you did want to have. And, ironically enough, I've seen Fandom SJ being used to defend pedos and actual abusers/bigots which is ugh. But that's some tl;dr for another day.

And yep, I forgive kids/teens. You just don't really think in those terms as a kid... hence why it's so easy for predators to take advantage of a child or teenager's ignorance. I actually didn't know that about Yu-Gi-Oh at first because I couldn't tell how old everyone was LOL. It's part of how anime tricks you. Everyone looks exactly the same age. It wasn't until I found out their respective ages I was like "Wait... what? Damn it, Yugi!" This happens way too often in anime/manga. It also might have gotten edited out of the English dub. Every so often, I have to side with the English dubs when they edit stuff out.

I don't think Disney did a god job of marketing it. I only remember ever seeing one commercial for it on TV when it was out in theaters. Aww shucks. ^^; Well, a large part of why I like it is because of Amelia here and another character named Delbert Doppler, though Long John Silver is also a great character. You'd like him, I think.

I wouldn't consider it goofy. Yeah, there's a little humor clearly targeted at the kids as well as some jokes at the expense of a particular character, but the drama and action make up for it. It's like The Lion King or Tarzan as far as tone goes, I guess. IMHO. I'd be curious to hear what you think of it once you get around to seeing it.

Yes, I'm glad I'm good at selling things, lol! =D
