Why paypal is bad

Wed Sep 24, 2014, 6:52 PM
My bank does not recommend paypal and i was wondering why so i did some digging
and this is what i found.

www.lockergnome.com/net/2011/1…

www.paypalwarning.com/

I will be using google wallet and square cash from now on its easy to use.
it works the same when paying for
commissions you can use your gmail to make payments.
you can use google wallet like papal.
google wallet falls under the banking rules unlike paypal.
I was talking with one of the google teck's and he said //unlike paypay google/wallet has never been hacked.//

www.google.com/wallet/
squareup.com/
i would like to heir what your thoughts are...
also if you are using another paymant method let me know so i can look into it

I started a paypal account earlier this month and already gave my debit card number and other stuff out away to them, but it isn't finished yet. And since I have a credit union, and if there are problems I have in the future, whether or not I delete my account, I can talk to the tellers and figure it out.
Since I made the account, I have been a bit paranoid about losing my home. Sorry if it's sad-sounding or otherwise negative. Just throwing in a testimonial.

I will try this.

I have had no trouble with Paypwal whatsoever in years. But I hear stories and just consider myself lucky.

I have tried 2 other online paying services, but the problem was that NO ONE else used them, and some didn't understand how to send me money or couldn't send to those less-known services.

I'l like to switch to a more secure/less drama/ online paying program and have Paypal just be secondary for people who have nothing else.

i've ran into trouble here an there but what really got me digging is how rampent the charge back scam is here on DA and when my bank said try not to use them

google wallet is vary ease to set up and easy to use to all ya really need is a debit or credit card setup takes seconds

same here i'm going to cancel my cards that are linked to paypal and if someone wants to by
using paypal they're going to have to ether set up a wallet account or used DA points to pay me.
I will not support paypal any more they have lost my trust.

Yeah, I already have it set up. I started scanning in all my loyalty membership cards~ weee

I withdrew everything from Paypal. I still will use them if I have to, but will withdraw what I make off them right away. I don't think I make enough money for them to really fuck with me.

Looking forward to trying out Google Wallet and see how easy is really is...

I'm cool with google wallet right now. But I see you're also using Square Cash? What makes you feel that's a safe way to go? I feel unless you're very secure yourself, that has the highest potential of being hacked and abused. If one hacker intercepts one of your emails with your debit card, they can crunch down on that fast.

I see you can ask that they request your security code every purchase your make/recieve, but if that's sent in an email, that can be stolen too...

no they don't send the code to your email its set up like a bank and has the same laws regulations and security as a bank.

I'm fortunate to not have experienced any troubles with Paypal, but I take these stories seriously. Time to migrate into other long-term options!

i did have one prob were someones payment didn't go through a log time ago but recently ppl on DA
have been getting hit with charge backs and i was wondering what that way so i asked paypal... it took them 35hrs to get back to me on what it was
but by that time i did my own digging around and found a plethora of other site talking about paypal and how bad it really is...
I asked one of my coworkers about it an he said paypal remined him of a cash and lawn company....
he's one i would trust on things that protein to money.... then i went to my bank an they said that they deal
with paypal a lot and that they do not recommended using it for anything at all

whelp I'm dropping pay pal like a hot pan.  I've had one or two issue with charge-backs. I've started having people sign for packages, and I'm protected by the custom order clause, but  with how immoral people have been becoming, and the amount of scams happening to other artists, I think its about time to cut that account. luckily every one so far has been pretty awesome.

they have direct check out so its not a real problem. in my shop many people have been using that instead of pay pal any way. its the same as going to the grocery store.  honestly the only factor that is frightening me about the pay pal, (cuase Ive had it forever, and had very few problems) is just the influx of dishonest buyers generally online. I don't want to get hit with it, Ive had that one little problem when I first started, with he jellyfish earrings that got "lost" in new York and I got charged backed by the buyer, lucky it was five bucks, but I cant have that happening.   that was with the 40 day policy, I don't even know why they moved it to the 180 day policy. that's just messed up. I mean if you buy something, and then you break it cause the buyer doesn't treat it correctly, or gives it to an underage individual. now I have to pay for your actions, nope nope nope.

pay pal has always been more for buyers then for sellers.
I work hard with the people I have on etsy, I am always there for questions, concerns and incidents, I think having a good service side to it all is very reassuring to customers and prevents charge backs.
but I've had a case were the person didn't even talk to me and did a pay pal dispute, I just refunded the money cause I still had the order. they had to beg me to get back on my order list.  people need to learn to communicate.

First of all they basically monopolized internet searches
Gmail
Google voice
Chrome books(little google laptops)
Google calendar
A whole town chanfed their name to "Google" for a whole month to get faster internet
Google maps maps
they own youtube
Translate
Google wallet

Now google glass is in beta testing, theyre glasses that basically act like a smart phone and you can surf the internet while doing everything else imaginable

Oh wow. I didn't realize just how big of a problem Paypal is.

I mean, I never get commissioned, so I've never had money transfer in, only out, so I haven't had much of a problem myself.
However! I know that at some point I'm going to start getting money in, whether it's from traditional or digital commissions, so I think I might start using Google Wallet soon.
I won't be getting rid of my Paypal account right away, though, because I know there are still other artists that use it. Once I know that Paypal has almost completely died out, then I'll delete my account (if that is possible...).

Thank you so much for sharing this!! It's really helpful!

I detest paypal, but so many artists use it and other businesses.   What can I do if they won't take anything else?

if your the one doing the commission then go with google wallet it takes less then 5mins to setup. but if your commissioning someone then i would tale the artist that you can pay with google wallet the same way that you can with paypal an that you do not have a paypal. they may give you an option to pay with your debit card through paypal or you can pay with DA points it all depends on the seller.

if they ask why you do not have a paypal or say you should get one, link them ether to this journal of the first too youtube video's above they'll get the point, an if anuff ppl do the same then paypal will fade away but for that to happen the word about how bad paypal really is needs to spread.

i do know that you can also pay with facebook and amazon but you have to have a store front in order to do so

ya can always just use the commission wiget it takes time to process but you eliminate the possibility of chargeback fraud and paypal doesn't normally mess with DA there both big power houses.... but ya i've been looking for a good alternative to paypal for around ooooh 3 weeks now but there's nothing out there short of opening up your own internet store and paying for a money transferring services witch for a small time artist like myself its not logical.
