Isolden [unlabeled]

Isolden [unlabeled] © Christina Roberts (Neyjour) 2013

This is my first attempt at a world map.  Loads of fun, but lots of work... :P

You can view the WIP thread here: Isolden (my 1st world map)
Many, many thanks to everyone at the Cartographers' Guild who commented, liked, repped, and helped me out with this! :)

I finished the base map in December 2013, but never got around to labeling it.  I'm still swamped with other projects
and have no idea when I'll have time to finally finish it up with the labels, so...

If you'd like to label this and use it for your gaming, the zip download contains the full-rez version (2500x3000)

Set the atmosphere with music/sounds:

Kids these days and their darned PictureShop computer softwares. Back when I was a lad we did our world maps in MacPaint--sometimes pixel by pixel! And we were darn grateful to have it, too, because the IBM PC clones other people had didn't do crap for graphics. We had two colors: white and black. Now everyone's got all these newfangled 32-bit color thingies. And Layers. We didn't have layers. And only one level of Undo, too! And we liked it.

Back when I was a kid, we'd never even heard of MacPaint.  But, we had this nifty thing at school called an Apple II, that could "draw" green lines on a black screen!  And if you were good enough, you could even make a stick figure with it... Woohoo!!  :happybounce:  :D (Big Grin)

I started on a TRS-80 Model III. I win :)

I should dig out some of my old Mac Paint world maps and post them here. It was amazing how nice a map you could get within the limitations of the software. But you did often have to work pixel by pixel.

I was so busy being cute, I forgot to say what a cool map this is. Favorited!

LOL!  Thanks!  :D

And yes, I concede to the winner.  Hehehe!  ;)  You should post your pixel maps!  Someone just recently posted a small one at the CG and it was pretty cool!  I'm really in awe of pixel artists... I'm seen some truly amazing work here at DA, but woah... I'd never have the patience for that! :P

My pixel maps are all on 800 KB Macintosh discs which nothing can read anymore. I may have some printouts in a file somewhere. I will check soon.
