Rat X-ray
I find this so interesting and I wanted to share. This is my dear rat Cess.

If I take more radiographs of my rats in the future I will post them.

Hope she'll be ok! Her ears look a bit like a lace collar like this :)

No problem. I saw it on a rat forum and your picture reminded me of it =)

nEVEr-mor,

After seeing the radiographs, two experienced rat owners said that Cess might have a tumor in her lungs and intestinal gas. There are very - VERY - few veterinarians who understand the treatment of rats. I hope your vet is one of them.

Thank you so much for sharing this with me. To me, her having a lung tumor would make sense because she has been having respiratory issues on and off since October of last year and she has not been responding much at all to any of the antibiotics.
I work with three veterinarians and none specialized in rats in the least. Since I have worked there they have been getting more experience because of my rats though.
Again, thank you.

What will the vet do, without an X-ray machine? I would go to a vet clinic and not vice versa, ASAP.

The radiographs are really good. I posted them on my forum: [link]

These are interesting, but the lateral view makes Cess look uncomfortable! Still, odd to see the inner bits.

She did not like being held on her side for sure. I and my co-worker decided to do it quickly to get it over with. We stretched her out on her side for a moment. It turned out well and we both cuddled with her after.
It is better that the doctor was able to see her inner bits. It is just an extra perk that I am able to share this with everyone else. To see the inner structure of any creature is a valuable thing for any artist.

True enough. I hope the diagnosis was okay...! And it is interesting to see what makes up these delightful little critters.

Very cool. I've dissected more rats than I can count on all of my fingers, but I've actually never had the opportunity to study a plain skeleton. Man, those tiny little ribs! :D

I have butchered chickens and dissected a fetal pig once but only watched surgeries on live ratties before. I am fascinated by their delicate little fingers and toes.
