Realities of working at a video games studio
Heerrrooo! Second vid vid of the week is here! Some chatty chatter about the game industry in here, check it out! Oh and the start of another painting :D
HOW TO GET PUBLISHED
This is an old piece I wrote and posted a while ago, but just recently people have been asking what my experiences were with regard to publishing and getting published - so here it is again, with a few new notes added about dA and Madefire! This is a very honest view based on 27 years experience as a writer, artist and publisher. The point here is to try to HELP you go into the business enlightened and with open-eyes, knowing what to expect. IT IS NOT INTENDED TO PUT YOU OFF! However, you should know that getting into comics is NOT easy - as too many people frequently imagine - and neither is it a glamorous 'rock-star' existence. It is hard
Types of Artist blues, what helped, what didn't
There are several artist blues I know of, since I have experienced practically all of them during the past few months since 2011. I will write about how I got them, how I overcome them. What helped, what didn't. Some of these blues are professional freelance blues, happens to those who are making their own series/productions and when there's money and risk involved. Some of these blues are shared by all artists. Pre-production blues Before the production even starts, the fear of it failing caused me to think about failing instead of success. It makes me hesitate about actually working on the project before I even produce anything. :bull

Hi there !

Sometimes I answered to people sometimes not... I simply forget to answer, or don't have time, or the question has been asked billion times, or it's too complicated to write it in english.

so here some answers: (sorry if there are english's mistakes, I'm french ^^.)

Do you take commissions ?
Nope, I really don't have time ! Sorry guys. I won't answer to note/PM about that.

Do you do prints of your illustrations ?

Not for the moment...

Can I use your art ?
It depends for what, If I don't answer then it means "no". Don't take it badly... It just takes too much times to make proper sentences to say no and I don't have time... sorry.
And please don't use it for 9gag or any other website like that.

What software do you use ?
Mangastudio 4EX for comics and drawing.
Mangastudio 5EX for colors.
I draw on MS4 because it's easier and faster for me.

Where can I get your brushes ?
My brushes are here : nesskain.deviantart.com/art/Br…
They are the basic one from MS5 but I changed the sensitivity.

Do you do tutorials ?
You can find some step by step in my deviantart's gallery and some livestream here : www.livestream.com/nesskain
My english is not good enough to do a clear tutorial.

Are you the bearded guy that you always paint ?
Nope, I'm asian guys ! ahah :D.

Who is the beard guy you are always drawing then?
Just an original character which the design is inspired from a singer , but I won't tell who :D.

Where did you learn to draw ?
I learned and still learn with internet, you can find almost everything.
I spent a lot of time on Posemaniac to train my eyes to see fast and be accurate.
For perspective, I really like the book from David Chelsea, everything he said is very good. I bought the DVD from Scott Robertson, it's really nice for free hand perspective...
For anatomy I learn from photography, at the time I followed a lot of nude photographers on deviantart and draw every pictures every morning...
I also learned a lot from this website: www.asahi-net.or.jp/~zm5s-nkmr… , even if it is in japanese I understood a lot of things.
DVDs from Vilppu was helpful too.

And most important, I learn from drawing from life. Trying to draw every situations!

How much time do you draw ?
I draw 8~18hours a day. the average is 12 hours I think... I can't really say, there are days I don't draw... :)

Do you use references ?
Yes, I do. When I don't know something I look for it.

What are your inspirations ?
My inspirations are mainly japaneses manga artists, you can find the list here: nesskain.deviantart.com/art/In…
I don't read a lot of american comics or french comics.

If you guys have other questions, just ask me I'll try to answer it here.

I'm so jealous of your art skill combined with OW gaming skill T_T Just one ultra stupid question, I know that it shouldn't bother me and it doesn't change anything but what's your gender? Are you really a boy?

Hi. I find your work one of the most beautifull and full of personality i've seen. Perhaps you could tell me what do you work with that makes you so busy that has no time to make comissions? Does your work has anything to do with this kind of art you post here?

Do you have like a story for that couple you're always drawing? I think I saw it somewhere but the images won't load. It's like a manga or something? Is there some any other site because I'd love to see the story. ):

Who are the people you're always drawing? Especially the bearded guy. Beautiful work - I'd love to know the story behind these characters if there is one!

I like your journal. Just one more question: Who is then, that bearded guy? (if you don't mind)

Cool information! I think you should add a part where you say people can use your art as computer wallpaper or as a background wallpaper on phones and tablets. It's fun and harmless and most artists are cool with it, but some users aren't sure.

Sorry if my english is confusing! I'm glad you're making the effort to communicate in the extra language.

"are you a bot ?" ♥
