It's hardly a secret, that I am a big Anora fan, but I am also quite aware that I am definitely in the minority. Thinking about the usual reaction she triggers inspired me to this.

Anora definitely needs more love. She's an admirable, complex character. I would love to hear your thoughts about her since as you said people... especially females... particularly Alibears... tend to dislike her. Undeservedly so, given her horrible situation.

Ohh, that brings back memories. I talked a lot about her back in the day when DAO got lots of attention here. Going to have to dig into those memories again ;) . But sure. What would you like to know? You can probably find a lot my thoughts by going throw my replys here and on my DA memes, but anything else or more specifics ask away.

Thanks a lot. I'm very interested in how Neroon handled the love triangle (unless I missed something about him and Leliana ultimately parting ways), for example. Then, what happened between him and Alistair after sparing Loghain. Again, the dynamics of father-in-law!Loghain. And, of course, how Anora feels about the whole ordeal. Maybe if I haven't exhausted your patience yet, ideas about arranging a political marriage between Alistair and Anora in the case of my headcanon Warden being a female Tabris considering Anora the only candidate fit for the job, yet feeling about Al like about a baby brother (ergo, protecting him). I admit what I have in store for my current literary commission is securing Anora's positive disposition towards ruling by sentencing Loghain to solitary confinement after keeping an eye on him during the Siege of Denerim. Predictably, admiring the Iron Queen of Ferelden subjects me to Alibear hate, effectively thwarting all attempts of a sensible discussion, so talking with someone who actually sees more of her would be a pleasure.

You're welcome! I started writing my reply, then I realized that'll be longer than expected and also need to think about it some more. Will combine it with my reply to your note.

I don't know why I like her so much, (other than the fact she's the only attractive inward-and-out blonde in the whole series), but I do. First time I played I was really blown away by her after I rescued her. She's very reasonable and pretty realistic of a guarded personality (or a realistic tsundere) considering her deadbeat cheating husband died, Daddy's stressing in politics, and now some "warden" threatening to take over the whole court. The idea of marrying mostly piqued my interest in the idea of actually being the King and Warden Commander of Ferelden at first, but once she told me she was a bit nervous about the idea of actually marring and living with me (at the endgame) I wound up really loving her.

At the millionth playthrough I'm less heartbroken when I put her below Alistair and take over as Chancellor, but alas for the "canon-ending" I chose to keep Loghain alive and me married to Anora. I mean, if I were going through this in real life, I'd probably marry Anora, spare Loghain (I can't hate a guy for being a patriot or blunt. He's just misunderstood in my opinion.) even if it means losing the world's most lovable traveling companion and friend. I'd just get drunk like he does every now and then and mourn him :P

Anora's the most realistic of all the characters to me, unlike most of the rest of the cast you'd probably meet an Anora at least once in your life and probably share something of her yourself. Not saying the rest are unrealistic, just rare (as a whole) in real life (unless you live in an extremely colorful community). Not only that, but like a true Tsundere (or Kuudere maybe), she starts off cold and distance but warms to you in time.

I like to think me and her make the ultimate power couple :P Long live the Queen and King!

P.S. Re-reading, I realized my wording was as tired as I was when I typed this lol. Woe be to he who reads this..... :P

I liked Alistair in my initial playthroughs, but once I took a liking to the Mac Tirs and spared Loghain all that fondness for Alistair disappeared in once scene. His reaction is absolutely ridiculous and selfish. Leaving his friends, his duty, and his country to the mercy of the horde for that decision is just insane.

Lol. That's why "people" (a.k.a. me) shouldn't comment half-asleep.

P.S.S.

Oh yeah, I mentioned Anora as being one of the few blondes in the series and remembered that DA:II
has A LOT.

Knight-Commander Meredith ("pretty" might be a stretch but I wouldn't say "ugly". She looks like a mom : P )

Sister/Mother Patrice: It probably has more to do with the fact human women in the game have the same sexy body model, walk, and stance.

Grace: To my surprise, there is no rule 34 (be it as a parody or not) of her despite the fact she's basically Anora with DA:II's superwoman body model minus the head (i.e., same blue dress).

Alastair: He's a man, but hey, I'm sure he has fangirls out there. I mean, one google search of him will find some 34 images whether you want them or not.

The Warden: Because I'm naturally the most attractive character in Dragon Age :P

I couldn't really hate her. Was more... indifferent than anything. Had to admire her though, she has a backbone and I liked seeing her stand up to Loghain. Not at all like Isolde, who skulked around behind peoples' backs and tried to lie cheat or twist her way out of or into things.

lol I always make her queen too, because as much as I like Alistair, he just isn't really cut out to be a ruler, and I do not like Arl Eamon :/ He has character traits that even if I'm a little bit of a rule breaker I can't really take, and I just get the impression he'd do more harm than good for Ferelden. Oddly enough I've never had her betray me, although that may be because I don't think I've ever managed to betray her either. Least I didn't know it if I did :XD:

She only "betrays" you if you tell her outright you wont support her bid to the throne. Did quite a "Well what did you expect?!" facepalm when I read that. Never had it happen either.

Ah ok I understand now. Yeah, never really told her that, explains why I've never gotten her to stab me in the back. I always kinda wonder if it isn't just jealousy that makes the fangirls immediately hate her really, because you actually have to do something evil yourself to get her to hate you.

Well I had one fangirl tell me outright, she reason she dislikes Anora is because there is only room enough for one Queen in every hive. Now that's a reason I can respect actually ;) .

Just read through the comments section of this a bit or the comments of memes featuring her as most disliked character. Google always helps. It's really a strong matter or "your mileage my vary" so hearing an explanation from someone who very much likes her wouldn't really be representative I think.

Unfortunately this is true.
However I am a female gamer and I love her anyway <3
I can't understand why she is so much hated. The only thing I don't like about her is, that she hardly makes any reaction if you kill her father. That is somehow cruel of her.

I hope that we will see her back in DA3, but I think that the game sticks more with Alistair.

Ohh I know there are exceptions. Just look at the discussions here in the comments section.

I honestly have no idea what they'll do in DA3. They've changed course so much in DA2 and so many of their staff seems to have moved on after ME3 that I wouldn't want to make any predictions. The only thing I am sure off is, that I wont buy it upon release but wait at least a few months to read not just reviews, but also fan-feedback before trusting Bioware with my wallet again.

Ohh yes. But I disagree with the ending sliders there. Anora wouldn't be stupid enough to let the food situation deteriorate into riots in the 1st place. And the Mages you can free as a Mage Warden under either Monarch and I'd much more expect Anora to stare down the Chantry, when they inevitable bitch about it than Chancellor Arl Eamon.

All eventually, but I can agree with your statement about the ending sliders. Unhappy Alienage Elves make unhappy Nobles. lol It's like the Rain forest, you change one thing even the tiniest bit, and the whole Rain forest dies! Oh I know, but I'm going through another play-through and thinking about the whole boons. Hmmmm..

Interesting question indeed.
One could even argue, that as a Mage Warden the best thing you could do for them is not freeing them, but becoming Chancellor. Provided you've got the political skills, that is. Because then you can piece by piece free them as well, but are in a much better position to make it stick. Also I don't think totally freeing the Circle is a good idea. It's not a question of not trusting mages, I'd not trust any isolated, "accountable to no one else"-organisation to police itself properly in the long run. The Chantry itself is a good example for that.
I explain what my Cousland would do after the ending in more detail here:

I fully support your idea, the only hole I'm going to poke into the whole amazing idea. Is that Eamon and maker knows Teagan will be worried about Damn Orlais, >_> Which they will probably use to stir up the Landsmeet making the other nobles stirred up as well. Say like if we become too chummy with them.

I wish though we could go through with an idea like that. But I guess not, and just letting Ferelden try to Stand together. :/

I'm a fan of hers myself. I always want her to be Queen, not only because she's said to be a great leader in her own right, but because I often find it hard to impose the job on Alistair, given that he says he doesn't want it.

And, of course, as a Cousland, I try and marry her myself. She's my favourite female character in the game. Such a shame she's only introduced to us towards the end of the game.
