A long time ago (about 24 hours), in a galaxy far, far away (down the road in Hollywood), comedian and television host Chris Hardwick introduced a segment on his late-night Comedy Central show — aptly titled midnight (https://www.deviantart.com/midnight) (get it?) — that got many of us at deviantART all aflutter.
First of all, if you love the Internets and you haven't seen midnight (https://www.deviantart.com/midnight) yet, you're missing out on some serious lulz. A few nights a week, Hardwick invites some comedian pals on the show for some Geek-Centric Improv Comedy. Sort of like a British Quiz Show brought to you by Reddit. Or "Whose Line Is It Anyway?" with slightly less dancing, but an equal amount
Fourteen years of existence marks a period of growth, change, and introspection — an era of creativity and emotion that leads to long-term personal and artistic development. As we celebrate deviantART's 14th birthday, we want to thank all of you for joining in on the journey of growth and development, from the deviants who have been here from the start to the deviants who are starting out their deviantART experience today.
How has deviantART helped you grow as an individual and/or as an artist? Tell us your story through an art feature Journal!

Good morning Callisto VIII...
DeviantArt.com will celebrate its 15th birthday in August 2015. While many online communities have come and gone during the last decade and a half, DeviantArt remains because of our passionate and committed community. In that time, we've celebrated many milestones, and it became apparent we were in need of a place to share our victories and our challenges. And since we want to move toward more complete transparency with the community, what better time to also showcase
With the newly introduced DeviantArt Mobile App for Android and iOS, our goal was to bring you a better, fresher, yet familiar DeviantArt experience — providing more power to do what you want and, more importantly, create deeper connections between your friends and favorite artists. We have plenty of plans for the future — including Notes and Push Notifications, which didn’t make it into the first version — and we want to hear what you’d like to see next to help shape the future of the app.

It's back! With the goal of bringing a little cheer to patients in the hospital during the holiday season, the deviantART Holiday Card Project connects deviants from around the world and applies their tremendous artistic abilities in designing and creating uplifting holiday cards.
In past years, the Project has received more than 5,000 cards sent in by more than 1,000 deviants from 50 different countries/political regions. Cards were then divvied up and distributed in-person by deviantART members to local Los Angeles, CA hospitals, with additional cards given to various hospitals in the U.S. and abroad for hospital staff members to hand out
UPDATE: Thanks to the efforts of our amazing community, deviantART won the People's Choice category at the 2014 SXSW Interactive Awards! We'd like to sincerely thank everyone for participating. The creative energy and inspiration that run through the deviantART community is absolutely awe-inspiring for those of us fortunate enough to be helping out behind the scenes. We truly believe that we are the greatest community in the world, and we work towards sharing that feeling with our deviants each and every day. Thank you for sharing this win with us!
Thanks to the generous efforts of deviants like you, deviantART has been honored as
As a statement of empowerment and artist prestige, we're pleased to reveal deviantART's official poster for Artists’ Alley at San Diego Comic-Con – designed by the exquisitely talented Artgerm (https://www.deviantart.com/artgerm)!
DeviantART couldn't be more excited to sponsor Artists' Alley for the fourth year in a row. Our aim has always been to keep focus on those who not only make the entire convention possible, but provide us with a world of entertainment across all media: the artists.
Go forth and march with your creative brethren!

Introducing ArtStroke from deviantart (https://www.deviantart.com/deviantart): Track your strokes. Stay inspired.
Home to over 38 million artists globally, DeviantArt is proud to host a community of like-minded creatives inspiring each other to be the best they can be. The very act of uploading each masterpiece broadcasts both the artist's stunning vision and the years of accumulated artistic skill. Such talent doesn't come easily. The path to improving one's craft is practice, practice, practice. In a world where technological advancements are shaping the landscape of our everyday lives, we knew there had to be a way to gamify artistic discipline and

For this chat event, two different contests were held, an unscrambling event and a general emote trivia event. Unfortunately, the scavenger hunt event that was planned had to be postponed due to technical difficulties. :noes:
For the unscrambling event, an anagram of something was presented to all participants, the first one to unscramble it won a random amount of points associated with that code. It was stated before hand that each code was either an emote code, an emote-related group, or a deviant that has held the position of emote CV at some point in time. At the end of the event, a random person was chosen to win a
So the admins and I have discussed about doing a contest as we haven't had one for a very long time! We wanted this contest to be less about winning and more about having fun and drawing for others.
- You must draw a pixel for a friend or idol.
- The pixel can be of any size and of anything, it can be animated or static too!
- The person you decide to draw for must not know about the gift until it is finished and uploaded!
- It must be a pixel that has been created in 2016.
- You can do more than one entry.
- Your description must include the following: "Here is my contest entry for #Pixel-Realm (https://www.deviantart.com/pixel-realm)"

The spotlight has a certain psychological effect that can cause the brain to do strange things.
For example, if you’re in a play and you know your lines backwards and forwards in rehearsal, the effect of the spotlight could still make you trip up on opening night. It wouldn’t be the first time it’s happened, and luckily for you, you’d be in very good company.

And I just found out they are celebrating it on the Sketch Madness website!
As some of you are already aware, I have been in a 3-round bracket-style competition hosted by the Ohio Art company, which is the company that produces Etch A Sketch. I was pitted against 7 other Etch A Sketch artists to compete for a trophy, and today I won! It was a very hard-fought victory and my fellow etchers were excellent opponents. The link I posted about shows a gallery of the other entries of Etch A Sketch art, which is definitely worth taking a look at if you have a chance.
I want to thank every one of you that helped me

Is Anyone Out There?
Each year he makes his migration south from the Aleutian Islands to a breeding area in the Pacific Ocean parallel to Central California, looking for a mate. Unlike other blue and fin whales, his more than 6000 miles a year round-trip swim is a solitary one. He does not travel along with the blues or the fins, because he is neither. He is most probably either a hybrid blue whale or he is deformed. Sight and smell are virtually worthless as

In 1964, Andy Warhol made “Empire,” an 8–hour film consisting of a single slow-motion shot of the Empire State Building as seen from the Time–Life Building.
Other than exterior floodlights coming on and off, there is no narrative but “time” itself—as captured in one hours–long period one unremarkable evening, and as expended by anyone watching the motion picture of a motionless scene. No artis

An Experiment with Time is a long essay by the Irish aeronautical engineer J. W. Dunne (1875–1949) on the subjects of precognition and the human experience of time.
John William Dunne was an Irish aeronautical engineer and author. In the field of parapsychology, he achieved a preeminence through his theories on dreams and authoring books preoccupied with the question of the nature of time. As a pioneering aeronautical engineer in the early years of the 20th century, Dunne worked
The “alternative universe” has long been a sci–fi trope, usually simply a good–guy bad–guy heroes and villains reversal. Like the Star Trek episode (“Mirror, Mirror”) in which a transporter glitch lands Kirk on an evil pirate “parallel universe” Enterprise where Spock is a goateed murderer with mutiny on his agenda. But real scientists have complicated things considerably, with “string theory” positing at least eleven (and possibly an infinite number) of “alternative/parallel universes.”

Many of you have been in this community for a long time, but whether you’ve just joined or you’ve been a member since day one, this is your first impression of the new DeviantArt.
Change is not something that we take lightly, because it affects our collective identity. It was important for us to define who we are and what we’re made of at our core before we changed anything. We all have our own understanding of what that means, but the process of getting that core story down on paper took almost a year.
The result is “Bleed and Breed Art.&
