Back in elementary school, I LOVED to draw. But when I hit middle school, I became very uncomfortable about my about my art skills and didn't draw very often. Everyone in school told me I was a very talented artist, but I didn't really believe them. I didn't believe I was as good of an artist as everyone made me out to be. It wasn't until my freshman year of high school when I took up drawing again. By the end of the year, I discovered DeviantART and created my own account. Unfortunately, the idea of posting my own artwork on it didn't dawn on me until the following year when I created my first original character:

These are the very first sketches I did of Marilyn Shine back in 2009 when I was just getting back into drawing again. In high school, I was heavily influenced by the works of director/ filmmaker, Tim Burton, and it clearly shows. I originally had the idea of Marilyn having a hair clip in the shape of Jack Skellington's face that would change expressions reflecting Mary's emotions. Eventually, I scrapped that idea and revamped Mary's design all together:

As time went on, I continued to redefine Marilyn's character and gave her various characters to interact with (Friends, family, etc.):

From time to time, I also did my own stylizations of my favorite pre-existing characters:

In high school, I also posted a lot of my art class projects, as well:

I've also expanded upon making other OC's:

I also LOVE doing a good crossover pic

I'm also grateful for all my fans and followers. Without them, I don't think I'd be as passionate about my artwork as I am now. I'm very thankful to have made my own impact on DA. Thanks for all the love and support, you guys!

To make a long story short, DA has really helped me come out of my shell and develop my own style, expand my knowledge and skills as an artist, as well as reignite my love and passion for drawing again. My account has become my own personal art gallery and I CANNOT imagine my life without it anymore.
Happy 14th Birthday, DeviantART!
Thank you for all the support!
