Hi - I'm Elaine, and I write science-fiction, writing as EJ Jackson. I've successfully self-published two books (a collection of short stories and a full-length novel - 'The Journey & Other Short Stories' and 'The Methuselah Paradox) and crowdfunded a video trailer for 'The Methuselah Paradox'. My next project is to crowdfund a 22-page graphic novel/comic book based on my short story, 'Minding Mama', a post-apocalyptic tale about humankind's last stand.
My core team consists of concept, comic-book and storyboard artist Dan Schaefer and concept artist and production designer Amanda Fullwood.
Dan will be familiar to many of you; he has contributed his skills as a concept artist to film and television productions for more than 24 years. His list of projects varies from animation (Teen-Age Mutant Turtles animated TV series), advertising campaigns (BMW, Adidas, Nike, Intel, HP, Clorox, Airwick, Cadillac) and feature films (for NBC/Universal, MGM, Lions Gate, Paramount, TNT). His diverse skill set has led him into art direction (Valley of Light for Hallmark) and producing (associate producer on the film Deep Winter starring Michael Madsen). He has worked as a pre-visualization artist with Gus Van Sant (Paranoid Park, To Each His Own Cinema, Milk), Guillermo Arriga (The Burning Plain) Ellory Elkayam (Without a Paddle 2), Jonathan Frakes and Frank Oz (Leverage), Omar Madha and Peter Werner (for NBC's Grimm). **
Amanda graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2014 with an MA in Design for film, TV and events. Amanda describes herself as "a scenic designer specialising in concept art and visualisation for film, TV and narratives." Amanda's background is in theatre design. Her work includes: 'The Flock' (for Andrew Griffin, Steamwork Film) 'Chasing Shadows' (for ITV) and 'Word Bohemia' for Sharon Woodcock, Word Bohemia).
At the moment we're at the pre-crowdfunding stage; Dan and Amanda are busily working away on sample pages and concept art for the campaign, and I'm working out costings for all the great and unique rewards we plan to offer those who donate to the project. I'm also trying to spread the word, hence this post. I've been a long-time lurker on Deviant Art, now I've come in out of the cold...
I'll be posting progress reports here, but you can also catch up with news - and even sign up to be notified when crowdfunding goes live- over at our website, www.mindingmama.org
. Hope to see you there!
