Sid Avatar by Neomae Sid Avatar by Neomae
This pic was requested by Sid Amos, one of the best fanfiction authors I know. I love his style of writing! And if I'm not mistaken, he was the very first who ever requested me for an illustration picture (That was 2 years ago and unfortunately I didn't finish it until now ^^° I'm sorry Sid! I didn't forget you!). He wanted me to design one of his fanfiction characters! That ment very much to me because being an illustrator in some way was my big dream since I started drawing seriously. Thank you for trusting me and my drawing skills, Sid! :)

Sid Amos wanted his dragon-self as avatar. He described the pose and the expression and he showed me his sketches of his dragon-self. I tried to get this pic as close as possible to his imagination. I hope I achieved this.
It's a relatively simple pic 'cause adding many details wouldn't make much sense. They wouldn't be seen in a 100x100 pixels avatar.

made with: pencil, photoshop 7.0

You changed the color of the shirt, didnīt you? Looks pretty good! :)
And I love that kind of glow around him and of course the flames in the bg ^^
let alone the pic itself ;) but I still think his upper arm is too short.
You havenīt put your sig on the ava itself, have you? I mean, yeah itīs pretty small but it would look rather distracting either if itīs just some little doddle in the corner or if itīs bigger and displaying a complete different name from who this ava belongs to... you might know this all, I should stop babbling. ^^;

Thanks for the big comment :)
Yes, I canged the color. The grey looked terrible ^^;
I looked at me in this pose in the mirror. My arm did look like this ... Maybe I'm strange ^^;
Sid made the avatar right of this pic. I offered him another version but he took this. But fortunately the sig is almost invisible in the small avatar. :)

Youīre welcome ;)

Yeah, I agree this color looks much better! :)
Ok, maybe Iīm just too picky with the arm (I just learned that has to end in the...errm...taille)
If itīs not visible then itīs ok ^.^ Iīm sure Sid loved it!

If the arm really would end in the taille everytime, I'd have a problem ^^;
Sid was really satisfied :) :boogie:

Thank you! I normally use inking pens for the inking. This time I made the inking with photoshop and my tablet. This method takes ages but the lines indeed look better. And the second advantage is that you can play around a bit with the lineart and you don't have to be afraid that you ruin the pic. :)

I'm sure she can :) I could do it, too, if you want to. I could make a small tutorial together with her. :) However, it's nothing special at all. You use the pen of your tablet like a normal inking pen on a new layer above the layer of your sketch. Then you zoom in your sketch very much, so that you can easily draw along the lines of the sketch. With the help of the pressure you can get very nice and clear inking lines with different broads in them. That's all ^^ The whole secret is to soom in very very much. ^^;
