    Arvon was awakened by the sound of a gong. He sat upright as if launched by a spring and looked around in confusion. There was a dim lightrock lamp beside the guest bed he was in, and the open window overlooked the courtyard and fountain in front of the house. From this point he could even see the river that was a few blocks away.    He collected his gear and ventured from the room in search of Lyora and the others, and also to discover what had caused the noise. His hesitant wandering finally took him to the dining room downstairs, where he found Lyora studying her map, with a few other maps spread out around her. A vaguely fishy smell
