WIP: DSHG Bumblebee pt. 1

Top - Woohoo! This bee is almost armed and ready!! Glad I finally finished the top. Took longer than expected because my sewing machine is being cranky so I had to sew everything manually.

The costume is a mix-inspiration of both the doll and the movie version. So I've kept the two black hexagons (as seen in their movies) which are rubber sheet cut-outs wrapped with the same black metallic spandex I used for the top. The top (based on the doll) has 3/4th sleeves with a gold hem line. Then the beehive pattern is carefully measured and lined with Artline gold marker.

Leggings detail - And with the leggings done, the suit is finally complete! Since I had no yellow craft foams left to make the beehive design, I had to make my own from a different color & wrap them in yellow spandex fabric.. one by one! >.<

But the end result worked out pretty well and I like how 3D it feels when I touch it hehe! Now to work on her armguards~~/o/

Gauntlets - Now for more progress on #Bumblebee for today's #WIPwednesday! The bee's body is orange craft foam coated in orange nail polish. Its wings are textured gold fabric that were glued to the body in middle only so that the wings give out that fluttering 3D effect.

The base arm guards are craft foam wrapped in textured sateen fabric. It opens with a velcro on the side and is quite fancy looking when I pit them on actually haha~! )
