Would you rather comics were posted as a whole chapter in a single deviation (scrolling) or as page by page? Deciding how to post Naor, relaunch is MArch 25th! :'D -is shaking with nervous and excitement-

Personally, I cannot and generally refuse to read comics on Deviantart that are page-by-page. My immersion is totally shattered having to click on a new thing and wait for the page to load etc and then continuing on, over and over, just to finish a chapter. I also don't like reading one page every update. I'm more of a traditionalist that way in I want the whole chapter at once, and then wait until the second one. If that's the way you wish the comic to be received though there's nothing wrong with it!

It's to my (limited)understanding that Yuumei has had some issues with Fisheye Placebo(scrolling style). Some people couldn't load it very well since it's such a massive file. Mostly remedied by clicking download and waiting a few minutes, but people can be impatient. So that is a concern aswell. I agree that you shouldn't release a zip file. There's nothing stopping people from saving, screen shotting, etc and producing one themselves but extra work is the best deterrent in existence.

At the end of the day, because you have it on Tapastic(a website actually designed for comics, unlike DA) you shouldn't worry about it too much. There's a way to view things for everyone and while I will personally read it on there, people here have a way aswell.

I agree that page by page is horribly frustrating, however after doing research on the forums, in Tapastic, it is the preferred style over there. As far as dA goes, I really don't want to upload BOTH a page by page and a scrolling version, however it's looking like I'll have to amuse both groups of people if I want the most readers. The problem with the scrolling version is that means those readers will have to wait longer for updates. I'd release them at the same time, but I'd like to keep the release dates on ALL sites as similar a possible.

As long as those who prefer scrolling don't mind waiting longer, then I'll upload a scrolling version for them. What I might do is make a deviation and update it each time I add a new page to it, so that it gets "longer" with each new page. That's a lot of effort on my part to make both version, but I would hope people would appreciate it?

Hmm.. If you posted a scrolling version on here, I would probably read it here. Just because I'm more familiar with DA. I'm also 100% fine with reading it on Tapastic, because I understand it can be a lot of work to keep everyone happy. The Tapastic version is a more than suitable compromise for me, personally. I would assume most would also share that viewpoint.. but I really can't say. I wouldn't mind page-by-page if DA's format made it easy, either.

Maximizing the most page views is very important, but if you think doing all of that would be too much work to bother with it's not worth it. I also think that an "updated" scrolling format would be hard to keep up with. I'd have to pay attention to when you released a new page and then go back to your scrolling version to see it. And at that point, why is the scrolling version necessary? I may as well read your individual updates as they came out since it's only annoying when clicking multiple pages in a row. I hope that made sense. My point is, for people worried about getting updates as soon as possible the format won't be as much of an issue since they'd be on top of it and reading each page immediately.

If you really want to make a format for everyone, I think the best would be page-by-page as completed udate>Tapastic update> upon chapter completion scrolling deviation.  Well, that's my take on the matter. Hope it helped you somehow! Feel free to ask me anything else you want input on :)

The problem is the length of time between updates. I wouldn't complete a chapter except every few months. I will be working 46+ hours a week over the next year or two at least with my internship in India. So I won't be able to give updates often, so most people would forget what they last read. As you mentioned, I'll be able to give hopefully at least one page a week and it'll still be fresh in memory.

Plus I DO want the most possible views, as greedy as it sounds. I want this comic to eventually become my job, and for that, I need exposure and views. I am willing to cater to people who prefer different types of reading. I plan to do only the page by page on Tapastic and then both versions on dA. If anything, there will be one update a week and two updates every other month or so. I don't really see how that's too much? Some people post drawing every single day, so once a week shouldn't be a problem.  Between the three versions (2 on dA and one on Tapastic), that should cover everyone. :'D

Have you thought about posted it as a motion book or downloadable .zip folder? :D I'd say page-by-page gives it a more authentic comic book feel, but honestly it'll probably be much easier to read on a computer or mobile device if it was one long deviation

I was thinking of adding a zip download to each page, yes. However my fear is people reposting it.

Definitely scrolling, especially if the pages would otherwise come out at different times. It distracts from the story, in my opinion, to have it all choppy like that

Also, have you heard of Tapastic? It's specifically a comic posting website and people can support the creator and such, might be something you're interested in (if you don't already know about it)

I have a tapastic, however over there, they prefer page by page according to my browsing through the forums there. That's why I was asking. I wanted to do things the way each website prefers.

Awesome, and that makes sense with how Tapastic is laid out.

Can't wait to see Naor!

I don't like the 'page by page' sceme to be honest... I feel like I am dragged out of the reading flow whenever I finish just one page. I'd much prefer waiting for the whole chapter and then having a fluidness when I'm reading.

The issue with page by page is that it makes for easier and quicker updates. I do agree it can be jarring though.

True, I also see the advantages of a page-by-page structure, and I have seen that I am the minority on this matter. You can do whatever you want on that part imo (not that you couldn't without my "permission" xD)

((Page by page would be the best way to go.

It keeps your reader's eyes from wandering about for "spoilers" or wandering ahead of their place (though this could be easily fixed by them). Plus it allows you to get more views via smaller updates!))

I agree and it does allow for more views, especially on tapastic.

I'd personally say page by page, seems to be easier that way.

Page by Page allows for quicker updates to keep interest, but the easiest to read is them all together.

I'm leaning towards page by page if I can make the updates consistent.

Id say page by page from my comic reading experience
Page by page always keeps me on my toes and interested but full length comics make it all at once and the wait can lead to boredom or just forgetting about it because the updates are further apart~
This is just my experience

I agree, plus it keeps the updates from being closer together. Page by page I can update more often.
