If you would or when you take commissions, do you prefer a more liberal commission (you get to have some fun designing it) or would you rather have all the details decided for you (very little artistic freedom)?

I would rather have more freedom to make choices.
I would rather have all the details decided for me, because now I know exactly what they want!
I don't really prefer one or the other.

If I am doing commissions I like to have as much details as possible. However if I commission someone I give them freedom to do as they wish.

Depends, if they're just happy to have something in my style then I'd love to have the artistic freedom but if they're looking for something specific then I'd ask for all of those specifics.

I like getting told details, but I'd also like to have some freedom with it. :D

I think ideally, I'd prefer having a bit more artistic freedom. It makes me feel a bit less pressure when I don't have to worry about getting everything exactly to specification and I can come up with ways to make the project more fun for myself. Of course, that's assuming the commissioner is easy to please and isn't giving you a vague description expecting you to read their minds about details they want. :P

So far I have been allowed almost complete experimental freedom.
On rare occassion I get simple specifics like "A bookmark type!", or "Realistic", "Specific color included".
Sometimes I stalk people's galleries, profiles and favourites to see if they have any obvious likes, favourite colors or styles or something to add into the picture.

Though I tend to be very specific when commissioning people haha Almost to the point they are probably scared of messing up XD I try to let them know it's just my preferred idea but they can tweak it to fit their inspiration or style. Sometimes their idea looks cooler than what I wanted!

The fun in audio production is taking a few concepts and seeing what they evolve into...like a project I have going behind the scenes is based on a single word, 'Zion', which evolved into a whole storyline (which I wish I had money to get art done of) - and that's the way I would do my commissions (if I had any) too. :3

For me it depends on the type of commission: sometimes someone wants something specific, and other times people like to get surprised by the artist's creativity. It all depends on the commissioner, if they already have an idea in mind it'll be more likely they'd prefer a more "guided" commission rather than leaving more freedom to the artist.
