I had commissionned two other artists to draw their character with one of my characters. I also commissioned you to draw a character of mine with some of a friend. I'm at this point where good art is abundant, where mixing universes make the whole commission more exciting.
No I wouldn't commission an artist to draw their own character. I would only do that if I really really liked them, and they only did fanart or redentions of series that isn't theres' if i really wanted to see there original art i may? but then again if they are solely doing this I am probably not watching them anyway. I like original content more then fanart content and sometimes I see if they become original like some have.
yes :'D It was traditional Ktchi with flowers. I don't even have a scanned version of it, I gave original to person right after doing it :'D It was mostly joke thing for fun, he paid with box of milky ways :'D All persons from this action from my gaming team~ But I think it still counts, I have to draw my own character anyway :'D
To be honest I only commission my own characters, not because I don't love the artists characters but because I don't get fan art of the characters I love so much it's just my way of getting that I guess. If they are friends I sometimes ask for a commission with my character and another. That's just me personally I am sure others have other thoughts on the subjects.
I asked for a commission with a character of mine AND a character of the artist's together... It ended up being cancelled but the artist was fine with doing it, even though she didn't know me very well.
na, maybe drawing my character WITH their character but unless they really never draw their character, or you want something super specific I don't see the point. Once I saw someone commission someone to draw rainbowdash just standing there in the MLP style, seriously what is the point in that? Also as an artist I would feel like I was ripping someone off if I let someone commission me to draw my own characters.
I guess I ask since at signings and such, people ask the artists or famous people to draw their characters. So possibly it's a "how famous is the character thing"? I know there have been many times people have requested me to draw my characters ding this or that and while I want to draw them, I don't really have the opportunity since I'm so busy with the thesis/comic, freelance and homework. Personal work to draw my characters in a non comic context doing fun things or with other characters is really nonexistent. I don't think it'd be a rip off at all. I mean they'd get access to a large file/fl res of my own character and possibly some really cool work from me personally. IDK I was really curious after talking to some people about convention stuff, so I posed it to my watchers. XD
If I could afford two commissions, one would be of my characters for I love to see them drawn by other people. Especially if they're people I hold in esteem high enough to actually pay to see them draw something mine. The other would be of one of their characters, maybe one they didn't draw for a while or the one with the design I love the most, for that's another thing that I love to see *^*
This goes also if I couldn't afford both on the moment but I were to know surely enough that I'd be able to afford them. If I were to commission you one of your characters, I'd wait for you to open human commissions and ask you for a human Tuhk probably =V
That's really cool! I have gotten so much art of my own, and then some fan art, so I wanna se other artists draw their own more. I know how it feels to be trapped in an endless cycle of commissions/freelance.

I actually did this recently. I commissioned an artist to draw a character of their choosing just because I wanted them to take some time to draw for themselves because they work really hard and are always so nice even when people are jerks.
It is, since I live off of commissions, I don't really have time to do fun art. Yeah I get to draw them in a comic sense, but I'm never getting to draw all the personal stuff I have or want to finish up or work on. IT's rally fun when I get a commission like that to just have fun. It really is a breath of fresh air.
On a personal note, I have commissioned artists to draw their own character. It is insanely rewarding as it is usually something the artist loves in the first place or rarely gets time for personal art. Getting some extra cool stuff and making an artist insanely happy makes me happy, so I like doing it.
