Vista Anthracite Pack v 1.21

Update: Vista Anthracite v 1.21 has been updated. It's a minor installer update.

This pack has not only Visual Style itself, but an Icon Patcher that can modify the standard XP Icons, BMPs and AVIs into the modern Vista Style.

All the images used in the logon sample were used in an alphabetical order and are copyrighted by their respectable owners.

Like some others, this has totally screwed up logon.

How do I totally delete this from my computer because everything is still vista, but I have uninstalled it, but it still appears.

Help!!

You are not going to get any raves from me about this pack. Logon Studio and all supporting boot skins do not work with this pack installed. I get parser line errors or the backgrounds on all the logon skins are messed up.This is another unsucessful attempt to make something look like Vista

I really like your theme pack. Now is the only I use. After trying several "vista" themes this the best of all. So far no problems with any application or with the system.

Thanks for this good work!!

How uninstall and return to normality all the archives that modified?
I'm not make a restore point :S

Sorry for my english!!
Excellent pack!
Nekh-Art-Studio's avatar
You don't need a restore point really to uninstall.

Please, go to Start Menu > All Programs >
Vista Anthracite Theme Pack > Uninstall

Then, select the option (s) you want to uninstall,
then press uninstall button.
That's all.
Hope, it helps.

When I installed it, it messed up my logonxp program. Wouldn't let me change my logons. It always defaulted to the same one no matter what I did in the logon xp program.

So, I deduced that it basically changed the default logonui.exe from XP to one from this program. I found it with Style XP and sure enough, I was right. I deleted it and replaced with another logonui.exe. That fixed that problem.

However, now when I try to change what the logon says on startup, it defaults to the same old boring WELCOME (yes, all caps). I can't edit in logonxp at all. Before installing this VS, I was able to change it to whatever (e.g. Enter Windows. Loading Windows, etc) Now, I can't. If there's a fix for this, please let me know. I really get bored by having no choice other than WELCOME.

Yes, you are absolutely right, the patcher only changes logonui.exe, nothing more.
For backup and restore a standard logon there is
logonui.backup - it's a copy of your original (or previous, if you have modified it yet) logon UI.

It looks like that the problem is that you didn't deactivate logonxp before patching, so there was some interference between logonxp and the Patcher.

Unfortunately, I never used logonxp for myself, so I can't say that the problem is, it looks like that full uninstall of logonxp and reinstall it again should fix the problem.

Nice theme...

I've been getting problems though. explorer.exe keeps shutting down whenever I try to change wallpaper or even right click on them after I installed...
Nekh-Art-Studio's avatar
Please, tell more details.
Is it the only problem you have?
Where did you try to change the wallpapers?

Desktop -> Right click -> Props -> Desktop ->
Background ?

Did you patch Icons, selecting Icon Patcher?

And last but not least what's the national locale
of Windows?

I hadnt any problem with this pack...everything works fine. The own visual style looks

Hi, thank you for the comment.
Honestly, I don't planning to update Icons to the RC-2 style at all. It will not be so long until the final corporate release, well, as they promised at least:-) So, let's wait for the final and make the final then:-)

Sorry for the multiple posts. I was on the previous page and its the first time I posted. When I began the Set up I only chose to install the Visual Style from the Custom Installation and did not choose The Icon pack. I had previously used alot of Visual Styles before so I already had my uxtheme.dll patched. Because of the start up problems I uninstalled and ran a system restore. The system restore changed nothing and my start up is still very long. I deleted the applytheme.exe registry entry with the aid of a start up manager as I kept getting an error saying it could not be found in the windows directory. Aswell as that even do I repatched with the uxtheme.dll with the one I was using prior I keep getting the XP theme on start up.

Sorry, Gerb, but couldn't get all the picture that happened with your system.
Let's we see it in more detail:
1) You selected the ONLY visual style to be installed, the Icon Patcher, Vista Start and uxtheme.dll patcher were off, right?

2) Installation itself was okay - you hadn't any error or warning messages or so on, am I right?

3) Then when installation was finished you restarted the system okay.

4) What happened after restart? Did applytheme.exe work okay?
Did the Anthracite Visual Style worked ?

5)Then, what did you do - uninstall the pack by its own uninstaller or used a System restore point?

6)After the system restore the autorun option for applytheme.exe wasn't deleted by the system restore, so you deleted it by yourself, right?

7) Restart?

8) What next?

Please, don't be in a hurry, and write all more detailed, step by step. I need to see a whole picture to help you.

Can you please tell me how to fix these errors? I tried installing the theme on its own as I thought it was probably the best Vista theme I have seen yet. But now my system is messed up. I uninstalled it and I removed the reg entry for the applytheme.exe which kept trying to run on start up even after a System Restore. Now my Win XP SP2 MCE takes 10 minutes to start up and eventually when it does start up it reverts to the XP theme even do I have patched the uxtheme.dll. For some reason I keep getting the message that Windows Explorer has to shut down and so causing everthing else to become sluggishand sometimes locking. I'm sure Internet Explorer(7 RC1) is not up to working as normal either. I ran a few Antivirus and Anti-spyware all up to date but they detected nothing. Can somebody tell me, What this did to my system? and, Please tell me how I should go about repairing it? or link me to a forum that might help.

First of all, please, tell in detail that exactly you did, stage by stage, that messages had you get. Did you install the Visual style only, or you also installed the Icon Patcher?

The problem with uxtheme.dll can be related with distro of Win MCE, please make sure that distro CD is not in the drive, or network path to the distrib is turned off.

Please, don't double the posts, thank you.
