So I've recently noticed something about myself~

Looking back on old (ugly >~< ) artwork I noticed the around the time I made them was times of great stress and pain in my life. Wether it be from illness, my monthly blood moon, family matters or simply being stressed over commissions my work becomes warped and distorted.
At the time, I had been proud of these works but when I look at them in a much calmer state I come to dislike them strongly.

Is this normal? Does anyone else expirience this?

The big difference with this is, these drawings were in a time of pain and sadness but my best works were actually times where I was up at 4 am drawing in almost blind anger. But none of my drawings looked angry? Just sad or distressed like that Rarity and Flutterfly Headshot from early january
Also the same thing with all of my vinyl scratch peices
Idk :P im weird

Hmm, I was the same way before, when ever I got angry or upset I drew but these days I have nothing to get upset or angry about so I'm happy most of the time ^^

Hmmm... I can't say I can relate to that. I can understand looking at past artwork and being like "ew" because all of us improve so much.
I think it's actually awesome that you can draw feeling one emotion, and show something completely different on paper. It's great practice for when you're not feeling so great, but you have to finish up that commission of Pinkie Pie eating a cupcake with a giant smile on her face x3.

For me, drawing is all about emotion or what I can feel from it. So when I draw something that's angry or dark (I typically don't upload those) it's because I'm feeling that way.

I don't think you should look back at your artwork where you were drawing angrily and dislike them. I think you should look back and be proud and continue to be proud. You survived the stress, you lived through that pain and through that pain you managed to pop out an amazing piece of art. Without feeling that way, who knows what you would've drawn instead.
