Concerning How I Price My Work

I get a lot of complaints about my prices. Weather its a commission, adopt, auction, YCH or just any of my pricing. I feel with all these complaints and suggestions, that I actually have to tell you all of this. I hope I only have to say this once.

I price my work how I please. And if you cannot afford my work its honestly not my problem. Artwork is a luxury. You don't need it. If you can't afford my work I am sorry.
A wise and kind person once said to me "No matter what you do, you will always sell 'too high' to someone". I am very sensitive about my prices and I do not appreciate price suggestions or complaints. I will not be a door mat and change my prices for anyone.
If I were to sell a commission for Minimum Wage in the US (8$ an Hour) it would be much higher than what I actually price.

For instance:

This is my most recent commission. Its a "Detailed Glimmering Full Body" which is priced at 50$ (60$ For a Speed-Paint of the work). I went back and checked the Speed-Paint to see exactly how long I actually worked on this piece. I put hard work and effort into this piece for 9 hours and 36 minutes. Lets add all that work with the Minimum wage:

9 x 8 = 72

So technically I could price that at 72$. But I don't. I price it for 50$. So if you come to me telling me to change my prices, that just tells me that my art isn't even worth Minimum Wage. You earn Minimum Wage at most fast-food restaurants. So my artwork and hard work (even though my art is NOTHING compaired to other artists (who sell their work for higher!)) isn't worth as much as flipping burgers at McDonalds. That really hurts my feelings you know? If you have a problem with the price don't buy it! I understand that a lot of people on here can't afford my expensive commissions, but I can't afford to waste my time on super low prices to fit everyone's needs. I use the money I make to give to my mom (if she would just take it >3> ) or dad who work really hard.

My dad just took an 8$ pay-cut from his job. If he didn't take the cut, dad would be laid off.
Mom (who is divorced from dad) has to work two jobs to take care of me and my brother. Even with child support my mother has to work hard to support us.
My brother is going to go to college soon. Tuition is not cheap.

My point is. Don't think I'm being greedy, because I'm not. I've been saving every penny for my family and a personal goal I have. I am not rich.

My tablet? I paid for that myself. I did a lot of work helping out my family to earn the money. My iPad? That is a school given iPad. My school isn't rich either. The heat is always broken even in the dead of winter. The A/C doesn't do well either. The iPads are payed by the State and U.S government. And we don't get to keep them forever.
My phone? I have a used iPhone 4 that barely works. My computer? My mother probably saved for months to give it to me for Christmas.

And yet. I have to explain all of this to you
just because you think my work isn't worth more than flipping burgers at McDonalds.

Let that sink in...

Your art is really amazing and if I could afford it I would pay minimum wage pricing for a piece.
I charge the minimum of 50 :points: for a headshot and can be the maximum cost of 100 :points: and I believe they are overpriced because I have to use vector (that may change very, very soon) and base edits the most I will charge is 250 :points: and one base edit can take me from anywhere between 2-14 hours, depending on character, number of characters, difficulty of vectoring the base and etc. And I recently learned that vectors can be charged a lot more than I priced but I believe that my art is overpriced so i won't change them.

I know how you feel deeply, I've been under pricing my time and effort for way to long....not it just feels like I lost my chance to be expencive....cause no one ever buys from me  ......On a positive note!, I completely agree with you!, our hard work for our commissions need to be taken more seriously, and some people shouldn't whine cause it's "too high" for them. It's unfortunate they can't afford it, but we just can't afford to do free-cheap art, we have our lives to live too, and it all cost money. And your not greedy, it's the love of money that is concidered greed, and none of us love it, it's just what makes the world turn unfortunutly in order to keep our butts a float :/ lol.

I have to underprice my commissions because no one will buy them, so you are lucky :p I'm too afraid to post my good art anyway because of art thieves. I only post my bad art on here so no one steals them o.e

And as the commissioner of the example piece, I honestly believe the piece was worth every single cent I spent on it!

I was given pretty much full control of my commission, it even included 6 sketches of my character, all in different poses. I was given many progress updates, and was constantly asked if it met my satisfaction. The drawing is also now my wallpaper, just so I get to look at it all the time!
People, I can tell you right now you will not be disappointed in commission from the lovely SuperNovaAdoptables, I would highly recommend to anyone looking for art of their characters!

Can I advertise for you? I'll feature your artwork in statuses and journals and direct my watchers to your page:) your art is beautiful and if anything, it's worth much more than minimum wage. I'm sorry to say that this doesn't affect me because I can't buy commissions, but I hope you get a lot of customers! :D
