i've done one before and showed it to two of my friends. They both preferred the older piece simply because the hair didn't curve weird. It offended me because they based their opinion on the shape of the hair neither of them even bothered to look at how my colouring and proportions approved, nope. The hair curves in unnaturally so it's bad. :\ that really bothered me, and it made me upset. -literally the colouring on the older piece looked like it was done by a five-year-old :c-
Yes,I once did that when I had an account on a website that had a place where you could post art and I did a comparation everyone kept saying that the older one was cuter, that it looked better and everything,I got so upset...
Depends on the piece tbh ??? Like sometimes I prefer my old art sometimes I prefer my new art. If I re-did something and strongly felt like I've "improved" I would be upset for a while tbh and pretty much have the "so I've gotten worse" attitude If I re-did something and felt like I could've done better or the first was better than I would totally agree with them and be like "yeah" lol
not really! Because my style may have changed, but other things I do in my art could have too. Maybe people just prefer the old style, which is fine because it's a different style than what I do now, not saying I'm bad or my art is, just that they prefer the way i used to draw things. I think labeling this meme the 'improvement' meme is where all the insulting feelings come from when people say they prefer the old one A more fitting name would be something like "See how my art has changed" Because yes, you improved, but things also changed, because that's how art evolves. Not necessarily saying the old one was bad, just that it's different than what you do now.
It's something like, say I used to make my eyes on my art super sparkly, for an example. But over time I started making them more realistic and less sparkly and anime, as my style developed. Well, if people prefer the sparkly eyes that's fine, just a personal preference. Just as it was mine to stop using that. It's just how my art evolved, and that's just the people's opinion of which they liked more(because everyone likes different things)
