Okay, great art! Thanks for sharing!

There is a criticism I want to give. It was nothing to do with the art, but the story. Right now Katana is mowing her way through generic robots. Only there aren't generic, they're actually pretty cool. But instead of the story showing us how intelligent/terrifying they are in a fight, we're getting a dialogue between her and some other guy that has nothing to do with the situation. So the robots just come off as tin cans.

This is a big problem in comics these days. Once upon a time fighting machines (or anything supernatural) was a big deal because the hero would have to struggle, strategize, and try to stay focused on the task at hand while internally being terrified. We would see how fast the enemies were compared to normal baddies, how much stronger they are or how quickly they can overwhelm. But these days? Paper cutouts.

If she's cutting them down like they're tin cans than either they AREN'T very dangerous or she IS very dangerous. In either case, they're of no real threat so what struggle is she supposed to be having right now? I feel like this criticism doesn't come from an assessment of Katana's character (the lady with the magic green sword that warns her of danger and cuts through solid steel) in relation to the robots and more from a pretense you've overlay-ed onto the narrative despite said narrative saying otherwise.

Being supernatural doesn't and SHOULDN'T automatically throw a character off guard especially when said character is supernatural themselves or has a history of dealing with these sorts of things. And seeing as Katana is currently holding a convo with the person monitoring her and is holding a glowing sword, I'm gonna say she's a clear example of both those things.

Basically it sounds like you're saying "fighting robots"="difficult" regardless of what type of robots they are, who they're fighting or what the circumstance of said fight is.  And that's lazy logic, because I could just as easily say that superman is poorly written on the basis that people can't fly.

And that isn't accurate, because the world of fiction is made up of all types of people with all types of mind sets, skills and often supernatural affiliations. Nothing is inherently dangerous to EVERYONE.

Seeing You only illustrating these is such a waste of Your talent. DC needs to tell You something like this: "Hey Stjepan, take Harley and whoever you need and make a story of your own!"

If you think that him working for DC is a waste of potential than I assume that you're not familiar to Games Workshop and Warhammer FB/40k universe? Trust me, things can be MUCH worse:D
DC is trying to get back on its feet in comics and he is one of the people who make it possible. Give them a another chance... not to mention most other companies just abandoned comics industry completly from the looks of it.

Not sure about DC, but I surely can't wait until Disney buys out GW. Because no matter how hard you try, you can't do worse:D
As for DC and Marvel having same owners... it opens up a road for some interesting crossovers however the price will be to butcher lots of characters who have similar, but much more popular counterparts on the other side(I wouldn't cry for Sentry or Hyperion being discontinued in presence of Superman, but losing Steel and Lex because of Iron Man is bad) and another huge event like CoIE... which would probably be badly written. Not to mention monopoly always leads to drop in quality and rise of expanses for consumers.

The only way Disney would get DC is over Warner Brother's Bankrupt Corpse.

Actually nothing is stopping Crossovers from happening except for corporate pig-headedness. Crossovers always sell.

I guess DC is salty because of the movies, while Marvel's comics are simply a mess right now. Or maybe the deal really is in WB vs Disney relationships.

You get me wrong. Not saying its waste of potential to work for DC. But he still does only awesome illustrations and most of words seems dull if you know what I mean. If they let him to make both illustrations and texts, it would be much better and more catchy imo :)

Maybe Stjepan doesn't want to write for a living and would rather just draw? His drawings are amazing! I was under the impression that english is not his first language, so maybe, even though I like his writing too, maybe it takes him a long time to do writing and dialogue and maybe he would rather devote his time to just drawing?

he actually does want to write and he is amazing at it. If you've read sunstone or death vigil you would know what I mean^^

but sometimes he needs to take on an additional gig for money which doesn't involve his writing.

He's not really writing sunstone for a living though. That's one of his hobbies. Like, people do pay for sunstone and death vigil. But it's not his main source of income.

Edit: Aren't you like, his wife or something though? So you would know better than me then. Maybe you're just his friend, I'm not sure. Also wanted to say that I think his overall plot lines are great. But his individual panels and dialogue could use some work. I do thoroughly enjoy sunstone though and I also like his writing. I just think it's ambitious to say that someone should do both the illustrating and writing for a DC or Marvel comic.

yes I'm his wife.

and yes of course there is always room for improvement and he is working on it, but when you are a comic artist/writer you are in a race with time and you will have to be satisfied with "finished not perfect" kind of way of thinking otherwise books end up getting late and people get impatient with waiting and forget about them and sells plummet.

Ah. Gotcha. That makes sense.

I do want to let you know that I do really enjoy Sunstone and what I've read of Blood Stain a lot! They are entertaining reads and the art is magnificent! I haven't quite gotten into death vigil but what I read of switchblade was cool/fun.

Also thank you for your response. I did not mean to offend and I said some things that were just plain inaccurate while talking out of my ass. Thanks for calling me out.

Can't help but get a little bit of a Genji vibe from the green glow coming off the sword. Not that it's a bad thing, it's the kind of visual flair the character needs, just a thought

So pleased to see you on these books. I bought Suicide Squad #20 and Aquaman #25 yesterday. Had to go to a few stores for Aquaman as it was sold out in my usual comic shop.

I cannot get enough of your artwork.

(Any chance of more drawing clips on YT?  I've watched those over and over, y'know, being an obsessed fan and everything...)

He did Suicide Squade issue #20 and is working the current Aquaman arc, starting with issue #25.

They're pretty mainstream comics, so you can get them in basically every comic book shop, or digitally at comixology.com

My only nitpick in this is that I would expect someone who goes by Katana to have a sword with a more traditional katana-like hand guard...

...then again if the crazy lady with the energized robot-cutting sword, with which she talks, wants to say it is a katana, it is probably for the best not to argue =P
