A Sellsword in the Bath House

Aeslinn wrapped the ties from her apron around her waist twice before tying them securely behind her. The morning air was heavy with moisture. Though any mist had failed to form, dew hung from everything. Not a good day for the bath house. People tended not to think about taking a hot bath on a day like this. It was going to be a slow day, which meant that the proprietor, a dried up old woman with the disposition of a jackal, was going to be in an especially sour mood.
Aeslinn sighed. She really could use the slow day, but knew that she and the other women who serviced customers in the bath house would most likely be doing cleanup and repair of the different rooms. Squaring her shoulders, Aeslinn stepped out into the common room where customers normally entered and requested baths. The proprietor sat behind the counter fanning herself furiously. Nomis Merclao held his hand over Pumala's head. He kept his eyes closed as allowed his mind to focus on the student before him. Nomis stood a full one and a half heads taller than the Fyros warrior. His broad shoulders and well muscled arms would give any prospective opponent pause. Even so, his movements were deliberate and gentle. Finally, Nomis opened his eyes and lowered his hands.
"Yes, I believe you are ready," intoned Nomis in a rumbling baritone. "You have learned to focus your Sap admirably. I am pleased to see it. Speak to Tedehem Paglops about learning the proper spell."
Pumala let out a breath she had not been aware she had been holding until now. There was something about Nomis Merclao that made her extremely nervous and self conscious. He never made judgments, and he was always encoura

Igneous chuckled evilly to himself. The takeover of this back of nowhere town was easier than expected. Arranged before him kneeling on the concrete floor of his new base of operations were the surviving crime bosses in the region. They had just sworn fealty to him under pain of incineration. Igneous' pyrokinetic abilities had viciously put down any dissent at the outset of his little coup. Now, there was nothing further to do except his strategic destruction of law enforcement in the area. He would run the region like a police state. Chaos would be his hallmark.
"Hello, Bart. Still the same petty thug as always, I see.”

Dr. Azura ole Botan sat in her lab writing a report on the successful cure of a baby elephant from a mild ear infection. Except for the distant sounds from the loudest residents of the Monument City Zoo, the laboratory was quiet. Suddenly, the appearance of a familiar violet colored light announce to Azura that a friendly visitor was about to materialize.
"Greetings, R'y'sha," said Azura. As a petite young woman with purple hair solidified before her. "What can I do for you, my friend."
"I came to give you a warning," said Star Child with concern. "Have you heard about the woman who intends to kill the heroines of Monument City?"
Azura nodded. "I have kept abreast of the news, yes. However, I do not think that she is quite so important as to disrupt my regular routine."
"I don't know, Azura," said Star Child, "she's already gone after Kim and intends to come after me next."

Trisha paced back and forth across her living room. Rarely was she ever on edge about anything, however this time was different. A recent threat had been broadcast over the local television airwaves. Some lunatic named X-Ra had threatened to kill Kismet and all of her associates in the crimefighting business. Originally, Trisha hadn't taken the threat seriously. Such things were common in a paranoid society where people fear what they don't understand, and as a result, destroy that which they fear. Ordinarily, the threat would turn out to be merely some opinionated person venting their views on talk shows or in the newspapers.
Then, it happened. A woman with a large arsenal of weaponry and a commando style costume broke into the Law Offices of Kido & Associates, where Trisha's lifetime friend and fellow eugenics survivor Kim Kido practiced her profession.
