The Wehrmacht by Nayikee The Wehrmacht by Nayikee
I was stationed in Germany from 1972-1976. I was assigned as an artilleryman and was based in Nue Ulm Bavaria.
I served as a crewmember on a 155 MM self propelled gun. I had the chance to meet an old German who had served
in the Wehrmacht, (Regular German Army.) and  we became great friends. His name was Heinrich. He shared some of his
old photos he had taken during WW2 with me. It's a bunch of his friends clowning around. I like to think that this photo
shows the human side of these soldiers. The German phrase translates to, "Only 250 days left" When his service would
be terminated. It's quite possible the war began within these days and his enlistment was extended for the duration of that war.
