House by Nayikee House by Nayikee
For the last two months I've been taking an online course on the art of illustration.
I'm attending the Academy of Art University. My finale assignment was to use a photograph
and base my drawing on it. I used charcoal ( A very messy medium.) and other tools to render
this portrait. It's Hugh Laurie the actor who portrayed "House" (Also the title of the T.V. series.)
a no nonsense doctor who was a bit of a maverick in his profession. During the Spring semester
I'll be taking a course on digital art among other classes. It's a bit different from what I usually draw.

Nonetheless, it is an excellent drawing.  So good the second I saw it I thought of how much he helped fuck up an already hopeless movie, The Flight of the Phoenix.

Ah you must be referring to that terrible remake of the original classic movie
that star'd Jimmy Stewart. Saw the trailer and thought,"Nope, nope.....no way!!!

misterscribbles.blogspot.com/2… Tip top adventure with Jimmy Stewart endlessly blaming himself all the way through it.  I have always thought this to be one of the ultimate adventure stories, filmed the same year as another fave of mine, Sands of the Kalahari.

This drawing was one of my assignments.

A superb image of one of my favourite actors. Whilst I've yet to see more then a few snippets of House (which have convinced me that I want to watch all of it!) I've seen him in a fair few other things, particularly Black Adder.. the contrast in his role there against that in House is something else!

I digress, however. I must concur with the others here that this picture is absolutely fantastic! Might I ask where the course may be found and the cost of enrolling, please?

It would be my pleasure to give you this info.
The institution's name is Academy of Art University, (www.academyartedu.)
located in San Francisco CA. I obtained financial aid thru the academy in
order to attend the illustration class. The cost was a little over 900 $.

Nice job. Charcoal can be a pitb, but you've handled it well. The hardest part is keeping the smudges down. ObiWan has taught you well. May the charcoal be with you.

Oh yes. I found working with charcoal to be a messy art form.
But the shades and details one can achieve with this medium is so wonderful.
