- Nawak. It’s French.
- Really? Na-Quoi??
- Well, it’s argot, French slang (and, to be accurate, so-called verlan or back slang), it is derived from "n’importe quoi" and means anything between "unimportant, who cares, worthless, futile, nonsense, unprofessional, why would anyone take a picture of this thing?? ~~~ C’est nawak ce truc, ça n’a aucun sens !"
But … who says the small "things" — the notoriously overlooked, the "wall-flowers", the plain everyday stuff, the ubiquitous, the omnipresent, those many little objects, thingies, what-d’you-call-its — in our lives, in our world, be it urban or rural, at home or in the street, in parks or cafés, in public transport or in the kitchen, just around the corner or somewhere far away on vacation — do not deserve to be depicted? ~~~ You think this is a good question? So this group is for you Go ahead and honour the nawak things on this planet, photograph them nicely, celebrate their existence!
