Even though the two stories differ on several important points (and probably even more if I was privileged to the whole story) I totally flashed on feels and songs from "When Marnie Was There" by Studio Ghibli the whole time. And no it wasn't just the title. The art is charming, the story is - well I just compared its basic form and feel to a Studio Ghibli project... while greatly simplified this would make a great trailer for one, the dialogue came from personal truth and so was spot on.

One touch I enjoyed was the mystery and alteration of focus keeping her face distant or partially hidden till the end made. Nicely done, classic, and classy.

I am curious as to how the sequel will be so depressing. I mean I can certainly see how it would start out depressing but this period of not with her ends with you deeply in love with another so it should have a happy ending.

I can tell you already have the basic form of it all laid out so just ignore this suggestion as one of those things fans are compelled to say. I think it would be lovely if you link your time with her to this new love. Like how  it helped or hindered in finding and connecting with them. Certainly she fundamentally altered how you feel about close connections with friends and lovers, about love itself, and may have had an effect on how willing you were to open up again for good or ill. This would be fascinating.

At least to those of us destined to live and die alone. *shrugs*

Good luck with future projects, thanks for sharing, greatly enjoyed. And right after Looler shared a comic which explored a different facet of the whole "Marnie" thing.

I'm sorry if it's been so long that this reply is now irrelevant but I must: thank you SO much, seriously. This is the best, most thoughtful feedback I could possibly be blessed with (I mean, Ghibli comparison? holy shit!) I read it many many times, and your suggestion is really sweet and insightful and got me thinking lots about LYFE :3 and it will have some impact on the next "chapter." Please stop thinking you'll die alone tho! good luck to you too :)

If you haven't seen the movie I mention (When Marnie Was There) I spoiler damage the main core of it quite a bit for you. Sorry if that means you can't read this. ^///^'

You took a risk and put a lot of yourself into your work. It paid off big time. (no one here was a dick and the expression that is art always benefits from a direct line to your soul even if the story is camouflaged by seeming to be about fluffy pink bunnies or something. )

Whilst this was a love relationship there were many parallels to the different kind of extremely strong love the two "girls" in When Marnie Was There" experience when they have their seemingly innocent and uncomplicated adventures that the artists managed to somehow stuff to the gills with layers of insightful and heart string strumming meaning/emotion.(as did you!) And your mentioning of how when she was around your life felt "real". Well, if you've seen that show you'll know that has a lot to do with thoughts of how REAL it was and eventually a kind of crisis in that story. (real vs. not real) That studio was tying something seemingly not real to something that was, as you find out, extremely real and personal. So all the not real moments were as real as they could be even though... they were not real at all. (but they were based on real relationship hidden in the core of that characters being behind a fog of time and pain. A very important and real relationship she had experienced)

At this time I had recently (within a few months) been hit by an outpouring of soul from my favorite DA artist who had done an excellent job of capturing the real vs. unreal, what is real?, etc... crisis in that movie. Then a few months later you capture the feeling of all those little moments together, those seemingly innocent not terribly complicated moments, that slowly build up into something so much more than the sum of its parts. (not sure I'm saying it right) It was a heck of a one-two punchie combo from some really great up and coming artists on DA.

Two unrelated artists with completely different artistic styles telling stories about seemingly completely unrelated subjects coming together in the mind of passing fan who just happened to be in all the right places at all the right times to set it up. (THIS is what the DA experience is supposed to be all about. This collection of awesome artists being experienced in one "place"!)

Sometimes life rewards the simple untalented souls, the fans, with something much MORE than expected.

If you are curious about the seemingly unrelated first part of the Artistic Punch Combo you can find the sketchy outpouring of Looler's soul here:  Creator's Quandary 1 by Lillooler

I'll understand if you can't see the relationships. As I said: I was the right fan, who had viewed all the right things, in the right sequence, to make this bit of FANtasy come to life in my heart and mind.

IF your art harmonized with all that I have taken in and caused me to inspire you in return then this cycle is complete.(till you use that to start the NEXT cycle! ;D ) Things are the way they should be. For once, in this corrupted world...

Beautiful comic! I love the art style and how the panels were crafted. It has that nice, illustrated look to it, which I always like. I also really like the interactions between the two "protagonists." I especially loved the first page, where the two are up late at night and in silhouette. You two really had something special together!

Overall, a very thoughtful and well crafted passion project you've made! ^^
